Syracuse Hires Videographer Who Illegally Taped

Sep 30, 2014 11:33 PM

Former Broncos videographer Steve Scarnecchia, the team's video operations director who illegally taped a six-minute portion of the 49ers' Oct. 30 practice in London, has been hired by Syracuse University to take over video operations. The school announced the hiring on Friday. He replaces Erik Kunttu, who left to become the video coordinator for the Colts. "I am 100 percent certain (Scarnecchia) is the right man for this job," Syracuse head coach Doug Marrone told The Post-Standard. "Steve knows he made a mistake. He acknowledged his mistake and faced the consequences. I am convinced that he has learned his lesson. Steve is a Syracuse University graduate, and I am thrilled to have him back at his alma mater." Scarnecchia earned his bachelor's degree in television, radio and film from Syracuse’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, graduating cum laude in 2000.

Broncos Unlikely To Trade Orton

Jun 26, 2014 12:20 AM

Despite all the hype surrounding Tim Tebow and a three-way battle in training camp involving Brady Quinn as well, odds are that the Broncos will hold onto Kyle Orton. Jason La Canfora of NFL.com writes that Orton gives Denver the best chance to win now. "Despite Tebow mania sweeping the country and a segment of the Broncos' fanbase, Orton by far gives the team its best chance of winning games now ... something the Broncos haven't done an awful lot of lately," he writes. "It would take a lot to pry him away (starting in the second-round level), and team officials doubt that kind of demand will be there. If it materializes, the Broncos will listen but I'd be surprised given this unusual offseason if he's not their opening-day starter."

Fox Talks Of Three-Way Competition For QB Job

Oct 11, 2014 5:36 AM

New Broncos coach John Fox hasn't been able to do much coaching thanks to the NFL lockout, but he has reiterated his stance on the team's quarterback situation. Kyle Orton, Tim Tebow and Brady Quinn will head into training camp, whenever that takes place, in a three-way race for the starting job. "I've said it before and I mean it. It'll be a competition," Fox said. "Competition is what this game's about, whether if it's an opponent or a depth chart. It's been this way as long as I can remember."

Quinn Wants To Be Mentioned As Possible Starter For Broncos

Jun 13, 2014 5:24 PM

Kyle Orton and Tim Tebow are the names mentioned when discussing the starting quarterback job for the Broncos this coming season, but Brady Quinn wants to add his name to the list. "I want to be No. 1," Quinn said. "I feel they (Kyle Orton and Tim Tebow) both had a chance last year and I didn't get an opportunity. I'd love to get an opportunity to help us win games and get this team to the playoffs and see what happens from there." Quinn, who didn't play a down during the 2010 season, has been mentioned in trade rumors since Denver drafted Tebow last April.

Elway Asks Punk Band To Change Name

Sep 12, 2014 9:29 PM

The punk band "Elway" has been asked through a letter to change their name after Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway's representatives caught wind of it. Lead singer Tim Browne finds it flattering that Elway, the chief football executive of the Broncos, has taken notice of a band that routinely plays "in front of about 30 people in a basement." However, Brown says the four-man group from Fort Collins, Colo., plans to keep the name. "None of us really care about football that much," Browne said. "It's not a direct reference to John Elway. We make no mention of him in records or in our art work. He's local color, part of the local vernacular that people understand."
