Broncos Remain Unlikely To Deal Second Pick

May 16, 2014 10:55 PM

Given the current lockout in the NFL, it remains highly unlikely that the Broncos will trade the second overall pick. It's doubtful that a new collective bargaining agreement will be in place by April's NFL Draft. "If it stays like it's been there's no way anybody's trading," coach John Fox said. "You don't want to be up there a lot."

Broncos Pleased With Elway's Knowledge

Jun 24, 2014 4:44 AM

Broncos president Joe Ellis is very pleased with the team's new power structure. The group consists of John Elway as executive vice president, Brian Xanders as general manager and John Fox as coach. "There's a renewed sense of spirit in our building, but more importantly in our community, just in the hiring of John Elway and the bringing-on of an experienced coach who's got a lot of respect around the league and a lot of great qualities," Ellis said. "It's been a very good match for our organization. I did say to you a few months ago that (Elway) knew what he didn't know. "But I think everybody's found out that he knows a lot more than we thought he might know." What Ellis says he's found is a passionate football guy in Elway, and one who'd done a lot of groundwork to prepare for the position he's been thrust into. "It's something I think he's planned for," Ellis said. "It probably took a lot longer to get to this point than he wanted it to, but now that it has happened, he has conducted himself like he certainly was ready for it and expected to succeed. And he'll be first to tell you, it comes down to performance on the field. We gotta win, and we all know that. But from what we've seen so far, he's setting the table the right way."

Fox Confident Broncos Will Turn Around

Sep 12, 2014 9:57 PM

John Fox sees signs that the Broncos are turning a corner. "My job is to win games. That, I will promise you will happen. I can't put a number on it this first season, but I will promise you we'll be in the championship at some level very soon," said Denver's new head coach. Fox said he sees parallels in Denver to his previous gig in Carolina, where he took the Panthers to the Super Bowl in 2004, two years after his arrival in Charlotte and his selection of Julius Peppers with the second overall draft pick. The Broncos own the second overall pick in next month's draft following a franchise-worst 4-12 season.
