Romo Has Back Cyst Removed

Jul 5, 2014 9:33 PM

Tony Romo underwent a minor surgery on his back in April to remove a cyst.

Romo will miss the Dallas Cowboys' OTAs that begin Tuesday and last three weeks.

The team's minicamp will be held June 11-13, which Romo may also miss.

Romo expects to be ready for training camp in July.

"If this was the regular season and I had to play next week, I could,'' Romo said. "This is just about being smart. That's why I did it now. This will have no effect on training camp. No way will it have an impact. And I still think there's a good chance I'm on the field for minicamp.''

Cowboys' Running Backs Looked For Too Many Home Runs In 2012

Oct 31, 2014 5:33 AM

The Dallas Cowboys were ranked 31st in the NFL in rushing yards during the 2012 season.

DeMarco Murray rushed for 663 yards while missing six games.

"We just left a lot of yards out there," running backs coach Gary Brown said. "I think a lot of guys just wanted to hit home runs more than get those yards that may be ugly, so to speak. We left a lot of yards out there, and I think they understand that. I think we're going to try and do a great job of getting those yards they left out there."

Cowboys Rule Out Signing Tim Tebow

Nov 20, 2014 2:14 AM

The Dallas Cowboys have ruled out signing Tim Tebow.

Jerry Jones spoke about his support for Kyle Orton as the Cowboys' backup quarterback.

“We feel really good about Kyle Orton,” Jones said. “And that’s where it all starts and stops right there. He will be used differently to some degree than we’ll use [Tony] Romo. But he’s very capable of winning big games and we know how important that back-up slot is, especially if it’s temporary if you don’t have Romo. So we’re pretty set at quarterback and we wish Tim all the luck and all the best in the world. But we’re going forward there. What we need to look at at quarterback is what we might be doing with the third quarterback, and that remains to be seen.”
