Cowboys Save $4M Against Cap With Restructured Ware Contract

The Dallas Cowboys have restructured the contract of DeMarcus Ware.

The Cowboys converted $5 million of Ware's base salary into a signing bonus to save $4 million against the cap.

The Cowboys intend to restructure the contracts of approximately 12 more players by Mar. 12.

Romo, Cowboys Begin Contract Negotiations

The Dallas Cowboys and Tony Romo have commenced contract negotiations on a three or four-year extension.

“We have a great quarterback and he deserves to be paid,’’ said Stephen Jones. “We have a good quarterback and we want to reward him. He’s in the last year of a contract and our goal is to not let the quarterback run out of contract.’’

Romo is scheduled to count for $16.8 million against the cap in 2013 and may work with the Cowboys on ways to reduce the cap hit.

Cowboys' Blue Star Logo Designer Passes Away At 89

Jack Eskridge, creator of the Dallas Cowboys' blue star logo design, died Monday at a Valley Falls, Kan., hospital.

Eskridge was the former equipment manager of the Cowboys.

Eskridge was one of coach Tom Landry's first hires in 1959, the year before the Cowboys' debut season

The Cowboys began with a white star, but Eskridge designed the white-bordered blue star.

Eskridge was 89.

Garrett Planning 'Tweaks' To Cowboys' Offense

Jason Garrett plans on making a few "tweaks" to the Dallas Cowboys' offense.

"This is an opportunity to add some people and add some influence to our offense," Garrett said. "And hopefully it's a tweak for us that can help us get a little bit better and help us break through as a football team. So that's really the approach right now we want to stay on the same track but also we want to add coaches to our staff that can really help us break through."
