Cribbs To Report For Minicamp Tuesday

Dec 16, 2014 9:47 AM

Browns wide receiver Josh Cribbs will report to the team's minicamp on Tuesday, according to agent J.R. Rickert. Cribbs missed all three voluntary practices last week as he waited for the Browns to engage in "meaningful dialogue" about a new contract. "Josh Cribbs will report to practice on Tuesday," Rickert said. "He is making this good-faith effort to show everyone just how important this is to him. We will continue to communicate with the Browns on a regular basis and we are optimistic that there will be a fair solution."

Cribbs Decides To Show Up For Meeting

Jun 8, 2014 2:46 PM

Browns receiver Josh Cribbs attended a team meeting on Thursday despite threatening to holdout. Cribbs is trying to renegotiate his contract and missed the first two days of the team's meetings. "I look forward to him being out there," said Cleveland coach Eric Mangini. "These are voluntary camps, so it's not a mandatory situation. Everybody has to make the decision whether to attend or not. But I can tell you there is a ton of information going in, and it's an opportunity for us to see all the different players. When you're here, you get those reps. When you're not, you don't."

Edwards: I Want To Remain With Browns

Dec 15, 2014 2:36 PM

Wide receiver Braylon Edwards has opened up about offseason trade rumors, saying that he wants to remain in Cleveland. He said that he doesn't want to leave the Browns on a bad note after a disappointing 2008 season. "I didn't get excited [about the rumors]," Edwards said. "One, they were rumors and there was nothing to hold on to. And two, I felt like if I would have left Cleveland for any reason, I would have left with a bad taste in my mouth. "I wanted to get back to playing good football, definitely here. It's a business and who knows what's going to happen next year. But for me, it was just about getting back to what I know I can do and being the player the Browns drafted in '05 and that the fans saw in '07."

Quinn Takes Early Lead In Cleveland's QB Derby

Oct 31, 2014 5:13 AM

Brady Quinn has taken reps with the first team this week at coach Eric Mangini's first voluntary minicamp. "That's because he's done a really outstanding job in the offseason program," Mangini said Thursday. "Not that Derek [Anderson] hasn't done well, but [Quinn] had the edge so he took the first reps. There's no overwhelming significance to that."

Cribbs Might Request Trade Out Of Cleveland

Sep 4, 2014 1:16 PM

The Browns have yet to talk to Josh Cribbs' agent about a new deal, meaning Cribbs likely miss the last day of voluntary minicamp on Thursday. "We remain cautiously optimistic that they'll make a good-faith effort to address this," Cribbs' agent, J.R. Rickert, said Wednesday. "We haven't seen it yet, but we are ready to discuss this in a reasonable manner. "And more importantly, Joshua is anxious to join his teammates once they do so." A source said Cribbs will ask for a trade if the Browns won't redo his contract.

Source: Browns' Cribbs Wants New Deal

Oct 9, 2014 2:43 PM

Josh Cribbs, upset because the Browns haven't renegotiated his contract, could sit out the next two weeks of voluntary minicamp. A source added that Cribbs could be close to requesting a trade from Cleveland. His complaint is with the seven-year, $6.77 million contract extension he signed in 2006. According to a source, the Browns acknowledged to Cribbs last season he had outperformed his contract. "Contrary to published reports this morning, no one from the current Browns organization, including owner Randy Lerner, has ever made any promises to Josh Cribbs with regard to his contract status," the Browns said in a statement Monday.

Would Anderson Be Unhappy As A Backup?

Jul 2, 2014 8:14 PM

Tony Grossi of the Cleveland Plain Dealer doesn't believe that Derek Anderson would be happy as the backup quarterback of the Browns. Grossi was asked in a question-and-answer column whether the Browns would keep Anderson as a backup in the event they name Brady Quinn their starting quarterback. "Anderson would not be happy as the backup. Plus, the addition of Brett Ratliff would appear to relieve pressure on the Browns to keep all three. Anderson's trade value will skyrocket if a contending team's starting quarterback goes down with an injury in preseason. A low No. 1 pick or high No. 2 would be the least I'd accept in trade for Anderson," Grossi wrote.
