Mangini Wants Favre To Visits Browns' Camp

Oct 31, 2014 10:34 AM

Browns coach Eric Mangini said on Wednesday that he'd like Brett Favre to stop by the team's training camp this summer. "He might come out to training camp to visit," Mangini said. "Maybe I will have him do the show team or just hang out." Since Favre is still under contract with the Jets, Mangini can't have him put on a uniform and run the practice team. However, he could be a guest tutor for quarterbacks Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson. "I don't think it would be anything formal," Mangini said. "It's not like we are hiring him to run the scout team. I don't think he would be interested in that. He would be more like a visitor. An open invite."

Mangini: Open Competition For Browns' QB Job

Oct 31, 2014 7:06 AM

Browns coach Eric Mangini says that Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson will vie to become the team's starting quarterback in training camp. "I talked to both of them about that and was very clear," Mangini said, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "I said if they have any questions they can come and see me. In terms of the competition and their opportunities. That's what I told them. They understand that." Mangini, however, didn't rule out the possibilty of a trade before camp even opens. "What I haven't ruled out is [general manager] George [Kokinis] and I looking at any opportunity to improve the team," he added. "But I in no way am saying that is specific to the quarterback situation. But we would look at any opportunity we thought would improve the team."
