Lamar Jackson Admits Ravens Underestimated Titans

Jun 17, 2020 9:27 AM

Five months after the Baltimore Ravens' playoff loss to the Tennessee Titans, Lamar Jackson has admitted that his team underestimated their opponent.

Jackson said on Complex's "Load Management" podcast that he wants to focus on "not peeking ahead" this season, as that mentality got the Ravens in trouble against the Titans.

"That's what happened in the playoffs, and we end up losing to the team people had us favored over," the quarterback said. "It's any given Sunday. You can't underestimate no team, no opponent and that's what we did.

"So I'm looking forward to this 2020 season playing the Browns first. ... Don't underestimate your opponents. They caught us by surprise. That's all it was."

Matthew Judon: Roger Goodell Late On Backing BLM

Jun 16, 2020 9:21 AM

Matthew Judon has criticized the timing of Roger Goodell's recent support for the "Black Lives Matter" movement, saying his comments were long overdue.

"It's not when Roger Goodell said black lives matter that now everybody can say it," the Baltimore Ravens linebacker said. "I think we should have been questioning why Roger Goodell didn't say black lives matter when he was born, or when he became commissioner or when he was re-elected commissioner. ... It's not cool that Roger Goodell said it. He should've been saying it."

On June 5, Goodell said in a video that the NFL erred in how it dealt with player protests of police brutality and systematic racism over the past few years.

"I'm with all the protests that we have to do and all the progress that we have to make," Judon said. "I'm with of that, but it's not because Roger Goodell said, 'black lives matter.'"

Judon added, "We're all here for a common goal, and it's usually to win football games. But right now, it's bigger than football."

John Harbaugh Finds NFL's Current Virus Guidelines 'Impossible'

Jun 12, 2020 1:06 PM

John Harbaugh is voicing his frustrations over the guidelines sent to the 32 NFL teams outlining procedures for the full reopening of their practice facilities.

"I've seen all the memos on that, and to be quite honest with you, it's impossible what they're asking us to do. Humanly impossible," Harbaugh told 105.7 The Fan. "So, we're going to do everything we can do. We're going to space, we're going to have masks. But, you know, it's a communication sport. We have to be able to communicate with each other in person. We have to practice."

The protocol requires physical distancing in the locker, meeting and weight rooms as well as cafeterias.

"I'm pretty sure the huddle is not going to be 6-feet spaced," the Baltimore Ravens coach said. "Are guys going to shower one at a time all day? Are guys going to lift weights one at a time all day? These are things the league and the [players' association] needs to get a handle on and needs to get agreed with some common sense so we can operate in a 13-hour day in training camp that they're giving us and get our work done. That's the one thing, you can tell by my voice, I'm a little frustrated with what I'm hearing there. And I think they need to get that pinned down a little better."

EA Delays Madden 2021 Event To Help 'Drive Change'

Jun 1, 2020 9:07 AM

EA Sports is postponing a first look at Madden NFL 2021 planned for Monday in light of the protests around the country over the death of George Floyd.

"We stand with our African American / Black community of friends, players, colleagues and partners," EA Sports said in a statement. "Our immediate attention is on actions we can take to drive change against the unjust treatment and systemic bias that is plaguing the nation and our world."

Floyd, a black man, died last week in Minneapolis after Derek Chauvin, a white police officer, kneeled on his neck for more than eight minutes.

EA announced last month that Madden NFL 2021 will be released on next-generation video game consoles but gave no more information about the game.
