Agent: Ravens Erred In Not Agreeing To Earlier Flacco Deal

Sep 22, 2014 1:06 AM

The Baltimore Ravens were unwilling to add $1 million more to the final season of Joe Flacco's five-year extension before the 2012 season, which broke off negotiations.

Following the Ravens' Super Bowl win, Flacco agreed to a far more lucrative six-year, $120.6 million contract.

Due to the size of Flacco's contract, the Ravens were unable to sign several of their key players in the offseason.

"One million dollars six years from now, in the base salary non-guaranteed money, and they walked away," Linta recently told USA Today's Jim Corbett. "It cost them $35 million. So I have no sympathy. None.

"I've never in my life seen a dumber move. I guess people can say, 'Well, Joe was dumb, too.' It could have been (dumb), God forbid, if he got hurt. But $1 million to (owner) Steve Bisciotti six years from now? That's like 100 bucks for you or me today."

Flacco Confident In O-Line Amid Ravens' Big Changes

Jul 21, 2014 3:53 PM

While the Baltimore Ravens have undergone considerable change following their Super Bowl win, Joe Flacco's offensive line has remained the same with the exception of the retired Matt Birk.

Flacco was asked if the continuity of the offensive line matters.

"Yeah, it does," said Flacco. "I think every year we've been here, we've juggled the offensive line around a pretty good amount."

The Ravens re-signed Bryant McKinnie to play left tackle.

"I think the fact that we have a pretty good feel about who is going to be up there is definitely good for me, and the fact that they played so well together last year at the end of the season is definitely a big confidence-booster."

Rolando McClain Retiring From NFL

Oct 31, 2014 10:47 AM

Rolando McClain is retiring from the NFL approximately one month after signing a one-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens.

McClain was a first round pick by the Oakland Raiders in 2009.

McClain was arrested 10 days after signing with the Ravens in April.

McClain has been arrested several times since entering the NFL out of Alabama.

“Rolando let me know that he plans to retire from the NFL,” Ozzie Newsome said. “We have placed him on the Reserve/Retired list.”

The Ravens lose one inside linebacker from their depth chart in McClain, though they did draft Arthur Brown at the position in the second round last month.

The Baltimore Ravens have re-signed Bryant McKinnie to a two year deal.

The Ravens benched McKinnie for the regular season, but he started every playoff game at left tackle and generally was very good.

McKinnie also visited with the Dolphins and Chargers before coming to terms with the Ravens.
