Oct 31, 2014 7:32 AM

Terrell Suggs still hopes to play a role on Baltimore's defense this season despite a partial tear of his Achilles tendon. The Ravens aren't sharing Suggs' confidence publicly, but Don Banks of SI.com reports that they are holding out hope that he can contribute something to the team before the year is out. They hope that Suggs can return as a situational pass rusher in the final weeks of the regular season.

Cody Says He Lost Too Much Weight

Nov 26, 2014 10:54 PM

Ravens nose tackle Terrence Cody's weight is a constant concern because he's ballooned to 400 pounds before. Cody trimmed down to 335 last year, but in hindsight doesn't believe it was the best decision. "Losing that weight last year kind of made me a little weak because I lost it a little too fast," Cody said. "But working out with [strength coach] Bob [Rogucki] ... I am feeling good. ... I feel good, I look good."

Flacco: Pressure On Ravens To Score More Points

Sep 7, 2014 1:49 PM

With Terrell Suggs injured, Joe Flacco wants Baltimore's offense to feel pressure to score more points this season. "I want us to get in more of a mindset where we have to score points," Flacco said. "Should this be something that makes us do that? No. We shouldn't feel any more pressure because we don't have him. We still have a great defense and we still have a great team. "But having said that, if it does put more pressure on us, if we do feel like we have more pressure on us and we need to score more, I don't think that's a bad thing." The Ravens offense ranked 12th in scoring (23.6 points per game) last year.

Ravens Won't Reduce Pay For Suggs

Jul 6, 2014 8:19 AM

The Ravens have had no internal discussions about docking the pay of Terrell Suggs, who suffered an Achilles injury away from the supervision and practice facility of the team. Suggs suffered a partially torn Achilles' tendon in Arizona during a workout and underwent surgery in early May. The injury, classified as a "non-football injury," would allow the Ravens to reduce his income since it occurred outside of the team's direction. Suggs said he expects to be able to play in just six months and he is targeting a midseason return.

Suggs, Peters Could Forfeit Millions

Jul 16, 2014 5:13 PM

Eagles tackle Jason Peters and Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs may lose millions of dollars in salary because both of their injuries fall under the nonfootball-injury provision of the collective bargaining agreement. Peters and Suggs both suffered offseason Achilles injuries that have put part or all of their 2012 seasons in jeopardy. The applicable wording in the CBA, Article 20, Section 3 provision states: "A player who is placed on a Nonfootball injury or Illness list ("N-F/I") is not entitled to any compensation under his contract while on such list ..." Both players have claimed they were injured during off-site training sessions but league and union sources agree that any injury sustained that does not occur at the team's facility or under its direction is considered a "Nonfootball injury."

Upshaw Ready To Compete, But Won't Try To Replace Suggs

Oct 31, 2014 7:07 AM

Ravens second-round rookie linebacker Courtney Upshaw was a hot topic of conversation at the team's minicamp this weekend. When stud pass-rusher Terrell Suggs went down with a torn Achilles, putting his 2012 in jeopardy, the spotlight shined brighter on the newest outside linebacker. "The coaches told me to come out here this mini-camp and learn the defense, come out here and compete," Upshaw said. "Honestly, speaking on Suggs, there's only one Suggs. You can't replace Suggs. Everybody's got to come in as a team. The veteran leadership on this team is not going to allow slacking on my part or anybody else's. Everybody's gotta step up."
