Ryan Williams Running Fearless, Ready To Be Cardinals' Workhorse

Nov 30, 2014 1:57 AM

Ryan Williams will become the unquestioned featured back of the Arizona Cardinals as Beanie Wells will be out for at least eight weeks.

Williams gained 62 yards in the fourth quarter against the Eagles last week.

“I’m going to go into this game with a focus and a determination to make plays,” Williams said of Sunday’s game against the Dolphins. “I know what’s expected of me, and I plan to be at my best because I know what I wasn’t doing the first couple weeks. I wasn’t running fearless.

“I was still thinking about my knee and I wasn’t trusting myself or all the rehab I did. But that was a mistake and I figured that out this last game.”

Kolb Leads Cardinals To 27-6 Win Over Eagles (+8.0 TC, +13 TRC)

Oct 31, 2014 10:26 AM

The Arizona Cardinals improved to 3-0 with a convincing 27-6 victory over the previously undefeated Philadelphia Eagles.

The Cardinals had a +8.0 advantage in The Trench Counter, averaging 3.1 more yards per pass while turning over the Eagles three times. The Cardinals also had a +13 edge in Total Rushes/Completions.

Kevin Kolb went 17-for-24 for two touchdowns and no interceptions with 222 yards against his former team. The performance was the best of Kolb's tenure with the Cardinals since his Week 1 debut last season against the Panthers.

Kolb even found Larry Fitzgerald for a touchdown. Fitzgerald caught all nine of his targets for 114 yards.

Ryan Williams kept the clock running to protect the Cardinals' lead, rushing 13 times for 83 yards.

Michael Vick lost two fumbles on a day in which he went 17-for-37 for 217 yards. The Cardinals sacked Vick five times.

LeSean McCoy rushed 13 times for 70 yards, but was prevented by the Arizona defense from breaking any big plays.

Cardinals Won't Punish Ryan Williams For Fumble With Reduced Carries

Jun 12, 2014 11:09 AM

Ryan Williams had a costly fumble in Week 2 when the Arizona Cardinals were trying to run out the clock against the Patriots.

Williams will continue to receive the same number of carries he would have in Week 3 without the fumble.

“Ryan will get his chances in the normal scope in how the game goes and I don’t think anybody has any less confidence in him,” said Ken Whisenhunt. “I think you just have to learn from that situation. I told him the story about Jerome Bettis when we were with the Steelers a couple years ago and he fumbled in Indy in the playoff game and Ben Roethlisberger made the saving tackle. So it can happen to a Hall-of-Fame-type player it can happen to anybody, what really matters is what you do going forward.”

Cardinals Unveil Patrick Peterson Wildcat Offense

Nov 28, 2014 12:17 AM

Patrick Peterson hasn't played quarterback since high school, but he does for the Arizona Cardinals in their Wildcat offense.

On the Cardinals' sixth play of the game, Peterson took the snap and ran 17 yards off left end before being pushed out of bounds.

Peterson also took one snap in the third quarter, a handoff to LaRod Stephens-Howling.

“He’s got all the ability in the world,” Larry Fitzgerald said. “I’ve said it for a long time: the sky’s the limit for him.”

Cardinals Limit Patriots' Offense In 20-18 Win (-7.5 TC, -8 TRC)

Aug 28, 2014 4:11 PM

The Arizona Cardinals overcame a Ryan Williams fumble when Stephen Gostkowski missed a 42-yard field goal as they beat the New England Patriots 20-18.

The Cardinals had a -7.5 deficit in The Trench Counter, recording nine fewer first downs and having 142 fewer yards of total offense. The Patriots also had a +8 advantage in Total Rushes/Completions.

Kevin Colb went 15-for-27 for 140 yards and one touchdown to Andre Roberts, but the story was the ability of the Cardinals' defense to limit Tom Brady and the Patriots. Brady was 28-for-46 for 316 yards, one touchdown and one interception. The Patriots lost Aaron Hernandez to an ankle injury in the first half and were unable to run the ball as effectively as they did in Week 1 against the Titans.

The Cardinals gave up three field goals to the Patriots as their defense bent, but only allowed one touchdown.

Belichick Explains Why Fitzgerald May Become Best WR In NFL History

Oct 31, 2014 10:06 AM

Larry Fitzgerald received heavy praise from Bill Belichick ahead of the Arizona Cardinals' matchup against the New England Patriots.

”He does everything well. He’s a great receiver. He’ll go down as one of the all-time greats. He might end up as the best one ever, I don’t know,” Belichick said. ”He has size, quickness, ability to separate and get open. He has exceptional hands. He’s good short, deep, with the ball in his hands after the catch. He’s strong, very smart. He sets up his routes well. They move him around. They put him on different spots . . . You have no idea where he’s going to line up from play-to-play. He has a very big route tree. He runs all the routes . . . one route sets up another. It’s very hard to find him. It’s very hard to defend him . . . we have to try to keep the ball out of his hands.”
