Saquon Barkley On Track To Be Ready For Start Of Season

Apr 29, 2021 8:28 AM

Saquon Barkley is on track to be ready for the start of the season, according to sources.

Barkley tore the ACL in his right knee during the New York Giants' Week 2 loss to the Chicago Bears. He had surgery in late October, giving him almost 11 months to rehab and be available for the start of the 2021 season.

The Giants also picked up the fifth-year option on Barkley's rookie contract Wednesday. With the move, Barkley's 2022 salary, worth about $7.2 million, becomes fully guaranteed.

Justin Fields Reveals He Is Managing Epilepsy

Apr 21, 2021 2:25 PM

Justin Fields has confirmed to NFL teams that he is managing epilepsy, a neurological disorder that can cause seizures.

The condition has not affected Fields on the field and his symptoms have been shorter and less frequent over the past few years.

Doctors believe Fields will outgrow it as his other family members have.

Fields is believed to be under consideration as high as the San Francisco 49ers at No. 3.

Patrick Mahomes Ahead Of Schedule On Toe Surgery

Apr 19, 2021 10:45 PM

Patrick Mahomes indicated he's ahead of schedule following offseason surgery for turf toe.

"I think I'm progressing well,'' said Mahomes, who felt well enough recently to travel to Georgia and attend the Masters Tournament with, among others, teammate Travis Kelce. "I think I'm ahead of schedule myself. Obviously, we're trying to be cautious. We're not pushing me out there too soon. But I'm doing what I can. I've gotten out of the boot finally. It took forever. Now I'm trying to get back on the field and get that stuff working. I'm sure they'll keep me on that same pathway and that hopefully I can do some stuff by the end of the offseason.''

The Chiefs expect Mahomes to be at full strength for the beginning of training camp in July.

"He's got great flexibility in that toe,'' Chiefs coach Andy Reid said. "He worked his tail off, not a real fun thing for him to do with that. It seems like a small thing, but that toe is rather large and stiff before the surgery and after the surgery, so he's really worked hard to get that right.''

Julian Edelman Doubtful To Play Entire 2021 Season

Apr 9, 2021 8:55 AM

Julian Edelman was limited to just six games in 2020 and it's doubtful he'll be able to play an entire season for the New England Patriots because of his troublesome knee.

Surgery has provided Edelman with temporary relief, but nothing will be able to solve the underlying problem.

The health of the knee could truly be a game-to-game situation in 2021.

Tom Brady Progressing 'Very Well' Following Knee Surgery

Apr 1, 2021 1:47 PM

Tom Brady is progressing "very well" from his minor knee surgery.

"I talked to him last week," Jason Licht said. "I know things are going well. I don't want to put an exact timeline on it right now because I don't want to set expectations one way or the other, but I know that things are going very well."

Brady had planned to undergo the surgery for several months and is not a recent injury.

Brady was seen last month in an Instagram video posted by friend Dave Grutman throwing a football to David Beckham on the beach. Brady was wearing his usual left knee sleeve in the video.
