Josh Gordon To Argue Positive Test From Secondhand Smoke

Aug 7, 2014 8:49 AM

Josh Gordon's legal team will argue that his positive marijuana test was caused from secondhand smoke.

Gordon is appealing the NFL's imposition of a yearlong suspension for a positive test for marijuana.

Gordon's legal team will argue that the positive tests are so marginal that they show uncertainty as to whether the test results were truly positive, and even if so, were the result of exposure to secondhand smoke, according to sources familiar with the case.

Gordon's "A" sample tested at 16 nanograms per milliliter, a bare one nanogram per milliliter above the 15-nanogram-per-milliliter threshold, while Gordon's "B" sample -- which should theoretically be consistent with the "A" sample, as it comes from the exact same specimen -- tested at 13.63 ng/ml, lower than the threshold.

With both samples coming from the same specimen test, the results should be consistent.

Brian Hoyer Given All Of Browns' First-Team Reps

Aug 7, 2014 8:49 AM

Brian Hoyer received all of the first team reps at quarterback as the Cleveland Browns opened training camp.

Hoyer will start for the Browns in their first preseason game.

"The opportunity is there for me," Hoyer said. "That's my goal, and that's so far in advance that I can't even think about it. I'm thinking about our install for tomorrow that we're putting in tonight. I believe that I'm capable of being the starter at quarterback for this team, and that's what I'm working towards every day."

Johnny Manziel will be given a shot to win the job as well, but the Browns appear to give Hoyer the inside track.

Browns To Name Starting QB By Aug. 23

Aug 7, 2014 8:49 AM

The Cleveland Browns will make a decision on their starting quarterback by August 23.

Brian Hoyer and Johnny Manziel are battling for the job.

"(A decision) could be sooner, and that's something we're going to discuss in that meeting," Pettine said, according to the Akron Beacon Journal. "It'll be before the third preseason game. I just don't have a date. I don't know if I'll set a date and kind of paint ourselves into a date, but it will be sooner than the third preseason game."

The Browns will play their third preseason game on Aug. 23 against the St. Louis Rams.

Josh Gordon Arrested On Suspicion Of DWI

Aug 7, 2014 8:49 AM

Josh Gordon was arrested early on Saturday on suspicion of DWI while in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Gordon was driving while impaired and clocked going 50 mph in a 35 mph zone, police spokesman Jim Sughrue told NFL Media. He was arrested shortly before 3 a.m. ET and released on bond at approximately 6 a.m. Saturday.

"We are aware of the matter and are disappointed to learn of this situation," Cleveland Browns general manager Ray Farmer said in a statement. "We will comment further at the appropriate time."

Gordon was already awaiting work on his lengthy suspension for a positive drug test.

Gordon became one of the NFL's best wide receivers last season.

Oct 31, 2014 6:19 AM

Jordan Cameron changed his Twitter bio following an arbitrator's ruling against Jimmy Graham.

Graham was ruled as a tight end instead of a wide receiver. The New Orleans Saints used Graham's Twitter bio, which listed him as a tight end, against him in proceedings.

Cameron changed his bio from "Pro Bowl TE for the Browns" to "Pro Bowl pass catcher for the Browns."
