The toe of Terrell Owens has become a major cause for concern in Buffalo. Owens will miss his second straight preseason game on Saturday because of the injury. The receiver hasn't taken part in a full practice since Aug. 9 when he aggravated the injury in the Hall of Fame Game. "He runs a lot," Bills offensive coordinator Turk Schonert said Thursday. "He has to make cuts on that thing, sharp cuts. "For a lineman, working in short space, it's not going to be as much of a problem. But a receiver or a running back, you've got to make jump cuts and sharp cuts. It's a huge injury." Owens had issues with the same toe back in 2000 when he was with the 49ers.

The Bills have agreed to terms on a five-year deal with first-round pick Aaron Maybin, according to sources. Maybin is expected to report to the team's practice facility on Friday to sign a contract. He will not travel to the team's preseason game against the Packers in Green Bay. The defensive end from Penn State was the 11th overall pick in April's NFL Draft.

Terrell Owens won't play in Buffalo's preseason game against Chicago this weekend because of a sprained toe. Owens hasn't been practicing all week. Bills coach Dick Jauron said that the team doesn't want the receiver to aggravate the injury. Owens said on his Twitter page Thursday that he expects to return to the field as soon as Monday.

Michael Vick rumors involving the Buffalo Bills continue to come to the surface. The latest came from ESPN?s Adam Schefter, who tweeted the following Adam_Schefter: Here are the two sleeper teams on Vick not getting mentioned, but that I now sense could be in play here: Buffalo and Dallas. Schefter doesn?t mention that he got that info from a specific source. He also tweeted this morning that there will not be a Vick signing on Thursday.

Former NFL linebacker LaVar Arrington believes that Michael Crabtree's contract demands are hurting other rookies. Arrington is a friend and publicist for Bills rookie defensive end Aaron Maybin. "This Crabtree kid is putting people in this predicament," Arrington said, according to the Associated Press. "I just think people's hands are tied until this guy gets around to doing what he's going to do." Arrington claims that Crabtree's stalled talks are the reason why Maybin has missed the first two weeks of training camp and Buffalo's preseason opener on Sunday. Crabtree was drafted 10th, one pick ahead of Maybin.

Bills owner Ralph Wilson admitted in an interview over the weekend that the team signed Terrell Owens in part to gain publicity. "I said, 'Sign him,' " Wilson told Associated Press qhile recalling a conversation with Buffalo general manager Russ Brandon. "In Buffalo, we haven't had a national figure publicity-wise since (Jim) Kelly. "So I thought, 'If this guy's a bad guy, so what? If he's a bad guy we'll have to get rid of him. But if he's a good guy, hey, we're ahead of the game.' "

Terrell Owens made his preseason debut with the Bills in a 21-18 loss to the Titans on Sunday night. Owens had two catches for 27 yards in his only series of the game. "It was just what was open, Trent [Edwards] saw it and threw it to me," Owens said of his first catch, according to the Associated Press. "Whether or not it was a statement remains to be seen. I feel comfortable with the offense. I like it in Buffalo, but we all have a lot of work to do."
