Henry's Child Support Judgments Won't Draw NFL Discipline

Nov 17, 2014 11:16 AM

Broncos running back Travis Henry's child support judgments might expose him to catcalls across the league this season, but they don't put him in line for disciplinary action by the NFL. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported over the weekend that court documents in a Georgia child support case show Henry, 28, has fathered nine children by nine women in four southern states and has been ordered to pay child support for seven of them. He also had to borrow money from his former team, the Titans, to fulfill one of those judgments, according to court records.

Titans Agree To Terms With DT Corey Simon

Nov 17, 2014 11:16 AM

The Tennessee Titans agreed to terms on a contract with free agent defensive tackle Corey Simon today. The 6-foot-2, 320-pound lineman joins the Titans after spending the 2005-06 campaigns with the Indianapolis Colts. He played his first five NFL seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles. ?Corey brings a combination of run-stuffing size and pass rushing ability to the defensive tackle position,? said Titans General Manager Mike Reinfeldt. ?Prior to last season, he has been a consistent and productive player who contributed to playoff teams and we are excited to see him get a second chance here with the Titans to prove he still has that ability."

Henry Borrowed Money From Titans To Pay Child Support?

Nov 17, 2014 11:16 AM

The Titans had no comment Sunday about a published report that they loaned former running back Travis Henry $9,800 for child support payments. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that Henry, 28, fell behind on support payments for a child in DeKalb County, Ga., to Jameshia Beacham, 29, that were mandated by a previous order. Threatened with jail, he borrowed the money from the Titans to pay the bill, according to court records. Henry, a former University of Tennessee star, played for the Titans in 2005-06. He was acquired in a trade with Buffalo in the summer of 2005, and received a base salary of $1.25 million that season. Last year Henry made the NFL veteran minimum of $585,000. The newspaper reported that Henry, 28, has fathered nine children by nine women in Tennessee, Florida, North Carolina and Georgia. He has been ordered to provide child support for seven of them, according to court records involving the child living in DeKalb County. Henry, who now plays for the Broncos, has a $25 million contract and a base monthly salary approaching $50,000. Court records show that he spent $100,000 for a Mercedes and $146,000 for jewelry.

Titans' Young Finds His Groove In Win Over Bills

Nov 17, 2014 11:15 AM

Playing only the first half, the Titans' Vince Young went 13-of-19 for 162 yards passing and a touchdown, and also scored a TD rushing in a 28-17 preseason victory over the Bills. It was a much-needed performance from Young and a starting offense that had failed to produce a score in eight possessions in a 27-24 win in sloppy and wet conditions at New England last week.

Pacman: I Was Innocent Bystander

May 31, 2014 6:40 AM

In an interview scheduled to air tonight on HBO, suspended Titans cornerback Pacman Jones said he has no worries about his legal problems in Las Vegas. "I know the truth is gonna come out, at the end of the day," Jones told Bryant Gumbel of Real Sports. "...And I'll tell you, 'I told you so.'" Jones also admitted selling dope in his past and using marijuana but said the last time he used was about three years ago. "Clean as a whistle," Jones said during the interview, which was conducted at his home in Franklin last week. "Innocent bystander,'' Jones said of the Las Vegas incident. "Wrong place, wrong time. ? I guess I'm the big fish in the little pond. I never touched anybody; I never hit no girl; I never told any one of them that I was gonna kill them.

Young Apologizes For Suspension

Sep 24, 2014 7:30 AM

Coach Jeff Fisher suspended Vince Young for violating a team rule regarding curfew. The second-year pro spent Friday night at home instead of at the team hotel. Players with less than four years experience are required to stay at the hotel during training camp. "I broke the rules, I can't play. You have to go by the rules,'' Young said. "It is like your mom telling you if you don't do your homework you can't go out and play, and that is basically what the situation was and I can't say nothing about it.'' "I apologize to my teammates, coaches, fans and everybody,'' Young said. "I really feel like I am not a bad guy, but I made a bad decision to try to go home and get some rest in my own bed.''

Redskins Pull Out Victory Over Tennessee

May 30, 2014 4:10 PM

Anyone curious to see how Vince Young has improved since he was last seen in the Pro Bowl must wait a week. While the Redskins sure didn't miss him, the Titans obviously did. Young sat on the sidelines, benched for violating a team rule. Without him, the Titans lost their preseason opener on Saturday night. Marcus Mason scored from a yard out and Byron Westbrook recovered a fumble in the end zone in the final 1:14, helping the Redskins pull out a 14-6 victory over the Titans in the exhibition opener for both teams.
