Report: Titans To Acquire Mike Williams From Lions

Oct 23, 2014 9:20 AM

According to the NFL Network, the Tennessee Titans are expected to acquire wide receiver Mike Williams from the Detroit Lions for an undisclosed draft choice. Titans Can Still Trade For RB Turner

Oct 27, 2014 6:31 PM

A draft day trade for San Diego?s Michael Turner remains a possibility for the Titans. ?The last time I talked to A.J. Smith, we agreed to stay in touch. We both have been using our time preparing for the draft. I don?t think the door is closed, but I wouldn?t say anything is imminent either,? Reinfeldt said. The Chargers tendered Turner at the highest level ($2.35 million, first and third-round compensation) as a restricted free agent, but found no takers. Talk is that the Chargers might accept less than a first-round pick come draft day. There was a report that not only were the Titans and Buffalo Bills interested, but that as many as four other teams had inquired about Turner as well.

"The first step in meeting these goals is for me to stop making the poor choices that have put me in this position," the letter reads.

Jets Shopping McCareins

Sep 28, 2014 12:29 PM

The New York Jets are shopping former Titans receiver Justin McCareins around the NFL, and Tennessee is a team that could have interest in bringing him back. ?I talked to Mike Reinfeldt about three weeks ago and he told me they definitely would have some interest in Justin at the right price,? McCareins? agent Cliff Brady said. According to Brady, the Jets have been attempting to deal the six-year veteran, who spent his first three seasons with the Titans, and Brady has done some deal brokering of his own. ?The Jets have been shopping him around the league, and I?ve been shopping him around to clubs myself, but right now I think their asking price is maybe a bit too high to get a deal done. Hopefully, it will come down a bit as we get a little closer to draft day or maybe even during the draft and something can get done.?

Agent: Young To Appear On Madden '08

Oct 27, 2014 6:36 PM

According to his agent, Vince Young has been told he'll appear on the cover of Madden '08, the popular football video game. However, whether it's a coincidence or a curse, recently players have suffered from injury problems during the year they appeared on the cover. Young's agent, Major Adams, said they didn't believe in jinxes. "People said when they put Vince on the cover of Sports Illustrated, it was going to jinx him in the Rose Bowl game, and (Texas) won the national championship," Adams said. "We don't believe in stuff like that."

Titans Still Want Michael Turner

May 11, 2014 10:28 AM

The Titans are still talking to the Chargers about acquiring running back Michael Turner, Tennessee GM Mike Reinfeldt said Thursday. "Nothing is imminent at this point and time, but nothing is dead either," Reinfeldt said. "The fact that we both agreed to stay in touch leans toward optimism.'' The Chargers put a first- and third-round draft pick compensation on Turner, a restricted free agent, but the Titans won't give up that much. The Titans prefer to trade for Turner, which would require reaching a contract agreement with his agent as well as the Titans and Chargers agreeing on compensation.

Pacman To Go Back To West Virginia?

Oct 27, 2014 6:38 PM

Pacman Jones is exploring the possibility of returning to school at West Virginia University while serving his suspension from the NFL, a coach said Thursday. Mike Barwis, strength and conditioning coach at West Virginia, said the Titans cornerback called Thursday and told him he might return to Morgantown to pursue his degree and work out at the school. "He said he's trying to iron a few things out,'' Barwis said. "I think he is trying to do the right thing. I think he is trying to get himself in an environment that is going to help him.'' Jones was suspended by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on Tuesday for the entire 2007 season, although Jones potentially could apply for reinstatement after 10 games.

Pacman Suspended For Entire 2007 Season

Oct 27, 2014 6:38 PM

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has informed Adam Jones of the Tennessee Titans that he has been suspended without pay for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy and engaging in conduct detrimental to the league on numerous occasions, the NFL announced. Jones was suspended for the 2007 season season and must earn the right to be reinstated. "We must protect the integrity of the NFL," Commissioner Goodell said. "The highest standards of conduct must be met by everyone in the NFL because it is a privilege to represent the NFL, not a right. These players, and all members of our league, have to make the right choices and decisions in their conduct on a consistent basis." In a letter to each player, Commissioner Goodell wrote: "Your conduct has brought embarrassment and ridicule upon yourself, your club, and the NFL, and has damaged the reputation of players throughout the league. You have put in jeopardy an otherwise promising NFL career, and have risked both your own safety and the safety of others through your off-field actions. In each of these respects, you have engaged in conduct detrimental to the NFL and failed to live up to the standards expected of NFL players. Taken as a whole, this conduct warrants significant sanction." The specific conditions that apply to Jones? suspension include the following: - He must have no further adverse involvement with law enforcement. - He must fully cooperate with all required counseling, education, and treatment assigned under league or court-ordered programs. - He must adhere to the restrictions on his activities that have been agreed to by he and the Titans. - He may not be at the Titans? facility through May 31 and may not participate in any practices or organized workouts during the term of the suspension. Beginning June 1, he must visit the team facility once each week to meet with the team?s player development director. Also, beginning June 1, he is permitted to spend one day a week at the team facility for conditioning, film study, and other similar activities. - In conjunction with the team?s player development director and other professionals working with him, Jones must develop with the Titans a structured program of community service or other activity. This program must be submitted to the league office for review and approval.
