Titans Finish Interviewing GM Candidates

The Titans finished interviewing general manager candidates on Monday and indicated they should make a decision by the end of the week. "We were extremely impressed with each of the candidates," Titans chief operating officer Steve Underwood said in a statement. "Each possessed a thorough knowledge of the league and presented a clear vision of how they can help this franchise reach the ultimate goal of a championship. "We as an organization will take the next couple of days to consider the information we have gathered and possibly conduct further interviews with some of the candidates. Following these discussions, (Titans owner Bud Adams) will make a final decision on our next general manager." Jaguars director of pro personnel Charles Bailey visited with the Titans on Monday. The team also interviewed Packers director of pro personnel Reggie McKenzie, Seahawks vice president/player personnel Ruston Webster, Seahawks vice president of football administration Mike Reinfeldt, NFL vice president of football operations Ron Hill and two in-house candidates ? Rich Snead, director of player personnel, and Mike Ackerley, director of college scouting.

Titans: Fisher Off Limits If Cowboys Ask

Jeff Fisher is not a candidate to replace Bill Parcells as coach of the Cowboys. The Titans picked up the option on Fisher's contract for 2007 and team owner Bud Adams is working on a long-term deal with Fisher, who earned $5 million last year. So despite speculation Cowboys owner Jerry Jones would go after Fisher, the Titans say no way.

Titans' GM Resigns

The Tennessee Titans have accepted the resignation of general manager Floyd Reese, which was presented to the club this morning. Reese?s contract was set to expire next month. ?Floyd has been an important part of the success that this franchise has enjoyed for over 20 years and we are thankful for his years of service to this franchise,? said Titans COO Steve Underwood. ?This morning, Floyd offered his resignation; and after considering the limited options available to him, Mr. Adams accepted his resignation. We wish Floyd the best in whatever he chooses to pursue next. Our job now is to move forward and find someone that can help lead this organization to our goals.? Also today, the Titans announced that the contract for Al Smith, Director of Pro Scouting, will not be extended and a replacement will be sought for that position.

Chow To Reunite With Leinart?

Titans offensive coordinator Norm Chow is a candidate to be the next head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, who fired Dennis Green on Monday. Titans Coach Jeff Fisher confirmed Monday night that the Cardinals had contacted the Titans to request permission to speak with Chow but had no other comment. Chow, who just finished his second season with Tennessee, coached Cardinals quarterback Matt Leinart at Southern Cal, and his handling of rookie quarterback Vince Young this season has earned him national recognition.
