Russell Wilson Interested In Owning Team After Playing Career

Sep 10, 2014 9:34 AM

Russell Wilson is already a two-time Pro Bowler and a Super Bowl champion, but his ambitions in sports already extend beyond his playing career.

"I want to be an owner of a team one day, whether it's baseball or football," the Seattle Seahawks star said Tuesday during an interview with the Wall Street Journal. "Maybe even both."

Wilson was a fourth round pick by the Colorado Rockies in 2010 and was also a Rule 5 selection this past December by the Texas Rangers.

Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Mario Lemieux and David Beckham are among the notable sports stars who have owned at least minority shares in major sports franchises.

"The biggest thing is networking, first of all, and doing your job well," Wilson said. "Whenever you do something, do it the best that you possibly can and produce all the time -- whether its playing football or communicating."

Muema Leaves Combine Due To Message From God

Sep 30, 2014 11:34 PM

Adam Muema left the NFL scouting combine on Sunday due to a message he claims to have received from God.

Muema said God told him he would play for the Seattle Seahawks -- his "dream" -- if he skipped the combine.

"[God] told me to sit down, be quiet, and enjoy the peace," Muema told the Union-Tribune.

Muema is ranked as the 24th best running back in the draft by ESPN.

Muema ran for 1,244 yards and 15 touchdowns last season at San Diego State and declared for the draft after his junior season.

Cardinals Building Defense With Kaepernick, Wilson In Mind

Aug 29, 2014 7:47 AM

The Arizona Cardinals are paying particular attention to Colin Kaepernick and Russell Wilson as they construct their defense.

“When you look at those two quarterbacks in particular, guys that not only can beat you with their arm but they can beat you with their feet, as well,” Cardinals' general manager Steve Keim said. “We felt like last year we had to get longer and more athletic on defense to try to be able to play on the perimeter with those guys.

“Because when plays break down, those guys get outside the pocket with their feet, so you have to have guys like (Karlos) Dansby and guys like Daryl Washington who can run and cover ground and play outside the box.”

The Cardinals had an excellent 10-6 record, but finished in third place in the NFC West.

The San Francisco 49ers are expected to play their first regular season game at Levi's Stadium on Sept. 14 in a Sunday Night contest, which will be Week 2 of the season.

With the 49ers expected to open on the road, they are the logical candidate to open the 2014 season at the Seattle Seahawks in a rematch of the NFC Championship Game.

As defending Super Bowl champions, the Seahawks will host the NFL's opener on Thursday, Sept. 4.

Seahawks Fans Raise Money For Homeless 49ers' Fan At Parade

Sep 3, 2014 6:23 PM

Fans of the Seattle Seahawks have raised several thousand dollars for a 15-year-old ward of Washington state who is a fan of the San Francisco 49ers.

The homeless boy was dressed in 49ers' gear during the Seahawks' Super Bowl celebration last week.

"He lives in shelters," Catherine Tate said of the boy. "So this evolved from, let's reward this kid for his bravery on one day, to let's reward him for his bravery every day."

Wright: Seahawks Would Beat Broncos 90 Times Out Of 100

Sep 2, 2014 2:17 AM

K.J. Wright believes the Seattle Seahawks are a vastly superior team in comparison to the Denver Broncos.

Wright was asked how often the Seahawks would beat the Broncos if they played 100 times.

"Probably 90," Wright said Friday on NBC Sports Network, via ProFootballTalk. "I'd probably go 90 out of 100. They might've got lucky those other 10 times. They're a good football team but you know the way we play, our style of play most teams just can't match up with it. We are really good at what we do, we run the ball really well, we stop the run and we just out hit guys, so you know most teams just can't match up with our style of play."
