Seahawks Want To Make Manning Move, Hold Ball Longer

Sep 13, 2014 3:34 AM

Peyton Manning has been hit less than any other passer in the NFL this season, which has been a result of his quick passes and a strong offensive line for the Denver Broncos.

Pete Carroll said Thursday that the Seattle Seahawks "need to move" Manning early, but coordinator Dan Quinn pointed less to the pass rush and more to Seattle's potent man-to-man and press coverage as the best way to keep receivers out of open spaces.

Said Quinn: "If we can hold that extra click, that's what we know is important to us."

Seahawks Believe They've Turned Corner On PEDs

Sep 13, 2014 6:09 PM

The Seattle Seahawks have endured more performance enhancing drug suspensions than any team in the NFL, and reached a turning point when Bruce Irvin received a ban in the spring.

"It's just a saying. Guys are accountable 24/7," Richard Sherman said. "Guys have to be accountable for their actions. Guys have to always abide by the rules, which we only have three: take care of the team; no whining, no complaining; and be early."

Said Sherman: "Those are the simplest rules ever. But guys have really embraced it this year and really taken care of one another, made sure that we kept one another out of trouble and made good decisions all year long. That's what it came out to. It came out in a meeting earlier in the season with all the nonsense that was going on, and guys really made a point to correct the mistakes that other guys had made and make sure they're accountable for their actions."

Sherman won his appeal for a four-game suspension in 2012.

Kaepernick: Sherman's The Goat If I Throw Pass One Foot Farther

Oct 14, 2014 10:49 PM

Colin Kaepernick finally responded to the infamous comments by Richard Sherman following the Seattle Seahawks' victory over the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship.

Sherman made a great pass deflection on Kaepernick's ball to Michael Crabtree.

“If I throw that ball one foot farther, it’s a TD and now you’re the goat, Richard Sherman,” said Kaepernick.

Sherman repeatedly called Crabtree a "mediocre" receiver.

“He’s afraid of our receivers, and that’s something I’m looking forward to [exploiting] next year.”

Coordinator: Sherman Has 'Extreme Recall'

Sep 13, 2014 6:09 PM

Dan Quinn, defensive coordinator of the Seattle Seahawks, believes Richard Sherman is one of the most astute players in the NFL.

"He's got extreme recall," Quinn said. "Formations, plays and information from this game, last season, last week. And he can recall it fast.

"My first experience with that was when we were getting ready to play Carolina in the opener, and he said, 'Last year, thisthis and this.' Without even getting into the game plan that week, he had some formations and alerts that he remembered already."

Sherman almost obsessively watches film to prepare for games.

Pete Carroll has been voted the NFL coach players most want to play for.

"I'm surprised by that," said Carroll, who received 23 percent of the votes in an anonymous survey. "But, hey, free agency is a big deal to us. Maybe that can help us down the road."

Mike Tomlin finished second with 14 percent of the vote.

Carroll is perceived as the ultimate players' coach.

Agent: Richard Sherman Receiving Surge Of Endorsement Offers

Aug 12, 2014 12:17 AM

Richard Sherman could make upward of $5 million in endorsements.

"We have some new players who have come to the table who are starting the conversation," agent Jamie Fritz told CNN.

Fritz believes Sherman's comments after the Seattle Seahawks' win in the NFC Championship over the San Francisco 49ers has enhanced his image.

"I think that he's more likable," Fritz said. "People love this. The brand managers love this."

Sherman already earns more in his endorsements with Beats by Dre and Nike than his $550,000 salary with the Seahawks.

Sherman's rookie deal expires after the 2014 season and he will surely receive a significant raise as one of the best cover cornerbacks in the NFL.

Demaryius Thomas Hopes For Matchup Against Sherman

Nov 2, 2014 12:40 PM

Demaryius Thomas hopes to be defended by Richard Sherman in the Super Bowl.

The Seattle Seahawks don't typically move their corners around to match up with a specific receiver.

Peyton Manning also generally picks on the most advantageous matchup on the field, so there will likely be better options than Thomas against Sherman.

Seahawks Have 'Google Of Football' Work Environment

Aug 5, 2014 1:27 AM

The Seattle Seahawks have one of the most relaxed training facilities in the entire NFL.

The Seahawks play music everywhere and Pete Carroll attempts to create a welcoming and harmonious vibe for the team to do their work.

"It's the Google of football," said Michael Bennett referring to a plush leather chair Marshawn Lynch was sitting in.

"We work hard, but we like being here," All-Pro free safety Earl Thomas explained. "We have the best facility. The cooks are great. Across the board, they've placed great people in great positions. And the music is always playing ..."

"It's a very relaxing work environment," said All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman, who knows a thing or two about volume. "People are most comfortable being themselves. And if you allow people to be in the most comfortable state, they're going to be the most successful."
