Tyrod Taylor Suffered Punctured Lung By Chargers' Doctor

Sep 23, 2020 1:15 PM

Tyrod Taylor had a lung punctured by a Los Angeles Chargers' team doctor while trying to administer a pain-killing injection in his cracked ribs, which led to Justin Herbert starting Week 2 unexpectedly. The injection that Taylor received is not entirely uncommon, but it carries a risk because a doctor injects without seeing where the needle is going.

Anthony Lynn strongly backed Taylor on Sunday night and again this week.

The Chargers previously said Taylor suffered complications from an injection.

The NFL Players Association is investigating the medical mishap.

If Healthy, Tyrod Taylor Still Starter For Chargers

Sep 21, 2020 9:18 AM

Justin Herbert impressed in his first start for the Los Angeles Chargers, but Tyrod Taylor is still the team's starting quarterback.

Herbert, 22, started against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday after Taylor experienced chest pain pregame that necessitated a trip to the hospital.

"I'm gonna wait and see what type of health Tyrod is in," Anthony Lynn said about making a change at quarterback. "He was our starter for a reason, and if he's 100 percent, ready to go, he's our starter. But I know that Justin can pick up the slack if he can't."

The sixth overall pick went 22-for-33 with 311 yards, a touchdown and interception. He also rushed four times for 18 yards and a score.

Anthony Lynn Names Tyrod Taylor As Chargers' Starting QB

Sep 3, 2020 9:33 AM

Tyrod Taylor has been named the starting quarterback for the Los Angeles Chargers by Anthony Lynn.

"Tyrod Taylor is our starter right now," Lynn said. "Until someone steps up and shows that they can run this team, that's [how] we're going into it."

The Chargers used the sixth overall pick on Justin Herbert. The rookie has been praised by the team for his development, but they always planned to give him time to learn behind the veteran Taylor.
