Josh McCown could enter the season as the No. 2 quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles, but they aren't requiring him to quit his part-time job.

He was coaching high school football in Charlotte, North Carolina during his brief retirement and will continue to do so.

The Eagles' practice schedule combined with the close proximity to Charlotte allows McCown to hop on a plane and head home Friday and make it back to Philadelphia for Saturday meetings.

McCown's son is the team's backup quarterback.

The Houston Texans have spoken to as many as five teams about a trade for Jadeveon Clowney.

While the most significant talks have come with the Miami Dolphins, the Texans have also spoken to the Philadelphia Eagles, Seattle Seahawks, Washington Redskins and New York Jets.

Clowney cannot be traded without first signing his franchise tag tender.

Carli Lloyd is considering an offer to kick for an NFL team. One unnamed team offered to add her to their roster for the final preseason game this week.

Lloyd kicked a 55-yard field goal during an Eagles-Ravens practice last week.

"I am having discussions with my husband [Brian Hollins] and [trainer] James [Galanis] about the reality of playing in the NFL," Lloyd told Fox Sports. "They both feel that I could do it and should consider it. So I'm seriously considering it, as it's a challenge."

All of the NFL's preseason games are scheduled for Thursday, but Lloyd is scheduled to play with the World Cup champion U.S. women that night against Portugal in Philadelphia as part of their victory tour.

Josh McCown is coming out of retirement to sign a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles.

McCown's deal contains $2 million in guaranteed money and could be worth up to $5.4 million.

McCown was planning to be an ESPN analyst this season but had wanted to play.

Nate Sudfield will be sidelined for six weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a broken bone above his left wrist, according to a source.

Sudfield suffered the injury during Thursday night's preseason game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Tennessee Titans.

He was expected to serve as the No. 2 quarterback behind Carson Wentz this season with Nick Foles gone.

The Eagles also have Cody Kessler and rookie Clayton Thorson on the roster.

The Philadelphia Eagles haven't revealed whether or not Carson Wentz will play in the team's preseason opener on Thursday.

Wentz doesn't seem to care either way.

"Preseason's helpful, but I don't think it's a necessity," he said. "No matter how much I'm out there I'll be confident in Week One. ...

"I think a little bit is helpful. But it's definitely never needed."

Wentz didn’t play at all during last year's preseason while rehabbing his knee and missed the end of the season with a back injury.
