Carson Wentz Calls Extension With Eagles 'A Win-Win'

Jun 11, 2019 8:34 AM

Carson Wentz believes his $128 million extension with the Philadelphia Eagles is a "win-win" for both sides.

The Eagles announced the four-year extension, which lasts through 2024, on Thursday.

The deal includes $107.9 million guaranteed, including $66 million due at signing, according to a source.

"It's something both sides wanted to get done. I knew I wanted this to be home for a long time, and ever since being drafted, it's felt like home," Wentz said. "So as soon as we found something that was a win-win, a really fair opportunity, I jumped at it, just because I love this place and I want to be here for a while, so I felt it was a good time."

The Eagles traded up to use the No. 2 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft on Wentz, who played his college football at North Dakota State.

The deal's average annual value ($32M) doesn't surpass that of Russell Wilson ($35M), but Wentz does surpass him and all NFL players in guaranteed money.

Jordan Howard: Eagles Will Allow Him To Do More On Offense

Jun 4, 2019 8:58 AM

The Chicago Bears traded Jordan Howard to the Philadelphia Eagles for a conditional 2020 sixth-round pick this offseason.

Howard had a career-low 20 catches last season, but the running back expects to be used more in the passing game going forward.

"I feel like they're allowing me to do more, show my game off more instead of just being one-dimensional like Chicago had me," Howard said.

Offensive coordinator Mike Groh said the team has "to keep throwing him balls" because he's been catching them in practice.
