Jets Place Franchise Tag On Harris

Oct 14, 2014 9:42 PM

The Jets have placed their franchise tag on linebacker David Harris. The tag doesn't preclude the Jets from signing Harris to a new deal before the season. If Harris doesn't get signed by the start of the season, he will make the franchise tender -- the average salary of the five highest-paid linebackers in the league. In 2010, that figure was $9.6 million -- more than twice what Harris has made in four seasons.

Rex Ryan Again Predicts Super Bowl Victory

Sep 12, 2014 5:09 PM

Jets coach Rex Ryan has again predicted a Super Bowl victory. Ryan told the MSG Network on Friday night that there's "no way we don't get it done next year," and added "next year, I know we'll win it." He said he's still hurting from New York's AFC Championship Game loss to Pittsburgh. "It feeds the competitiveness in you," Ryan told the New York Post. "You're sick that you missed out again, two years in a row. I know how important it is to this town and our fans, and how important it is to me, this football team. To come up short again, it?s a huge blow. "But you do remember," he said. "It drives your competitive spirit, like there's no way, no way we don't get it done next year. That's how you feel. That's how I feel. You can?t wait to get back and have at it again."
