Giants Mentioned As Potential Suitor For Tom Brady

Feb 27, 2020 8:52 AM

The New York Giants have been mentioned by sources at the NFL Scouting Combine as a team with potential interest in Tom Brady.

Brady has also been linked to the Tennessee Titans and Oakland Raiders in rumors.

The Giants may come as a surprise to some after they used the sixth overall pick on Daniel Jones last spring.

New York has plenty of cap space to make Brady a strong offer.

Giants Cut Expensive Gettleman Signings Alec Ogletree, Kareem Martin

Feb 26, 2020 12:33 PM

The New York Giants have cut Alec Ogletree and Kareem Martin.

Ogletree, one of the league's highest-paid inside linebackers over the past two years at $10 million per season, became a liability in pass coverage and saw his playing time diminish.

Ogletree was one of Dave Gettleman's first major acquisitions for the Giants.

Ogletree played the first five years of his career with the Rams. He topped 100 tackles in three of his first four seasons. The second-team All Pro in 2016 has career totals of 674 tackles, 7.5 sacks, 12 forced fumbles and 12 interceptions. He also has four defensive touchdowns.

The Giants signed Martin to a three-year, $21 million contract one day after acquiring Ogletree in March 2018.

Giants Open To Moving Down From 4th Slot In Draft

Feb 25, 2020 3:33 PM

The New York Giants are open to moving down from the fourth position in the draft.

The Detroit Lions, who own the third pick, have taken a similar position.

"Absolutely we're open for business," Dave Gettleman said on Tuesday at the NFL combine. "Again, whatever we do is going to be in our best interest. Trading back has its danger. What happens if ... we're at four. Let's say we trade back to eight. There are only four players that we like. What if they're all gone? Now what are you going to do? Trade back again? You can trade yourself back out of good players.

"But, to answer your question, we're open."

The Giants presumably already have their quarterback of the future in Daniel Jones.

"I've tried to trade back as the general manager," Gettleman said. "The value wasn't there. There was a player we really liked."
