Giants Expected To Sign Eli Manning To Extension

Dec 16, 2013 2:12 PM

Eli Manning has had a dreadful 2013 season, but the New York Giants are expected to work out an extension this offseason.

The Giants would like to lower Manning's 2014 cap number while also ensuring he finishes his career with the franchise.

Archie Manning: Giants Were Not Super Bowl Caliber To Begin Season

Dec 12, 2013 9:48 PM

The New York Giants have had a disappointing season, but Archie Manning believes expectations were out of line with the actual talent on the roster.

“I don’t think anybody around the league is saying ‘The Giants are a real good team right now, they’re just not playing good,’” Manning said. “They probably aren’t a really good team right now.”

The Giants began the season with an 0-6 record.

“I don’t think there’s anything wrong with talking about playing a Super Bowl when it’s going to be in your town,” Manning said. “But were the Giants really a Super Bowl team to start the year when you really evaluate every position? Especially with having their two best linemen having offseason surgery?

“I actually give them a little credit. In other places that are having similar years they’ve kind of unraveled a little bit in those locker rooms. I’ve played on teams like that, where those locker rooms fall apart. To their credit, to their leadership, they haven’t done that. They’ve hung together.

“Just not a great team right now.”

Eli Manning Forgets Reasons Why He Refused To Play For Chargers

Dec 4, 2013 8:35 PM

Eli Manning forced the San Diego Chargers to trade him in a draft day deal with the New York Giants in what was an embarrassing moment.

Manning was visibly upset when he had to take a picture with a Chargers' uniform when he was drafted.

"I forgot, I think," said Manning. "I just can't remember; it's been 10 years. It slipped my mind."

The NFL was honoring the late Pat Tillman during that draft as he was killed in action just weeks earlier, further embarrassing Manning.
