Drew Brees Believes 80 Percent Completion Rate In Sustainable

Sep 28, 2018 8:12 AM

Through three games, Drew Brees has an 80.6% completion rate on his 129 passing attempts.

The NFL record over the course of a full season is 72%, which is held by Brees, who also leads the league in career percentage.

"I don't see why not," Brees said when asked if his current rate is sustainable. "Listen, it's not easy. ... It's identifying matchups, it's making sure you get positive plays and in just about every case, a completion is a positive play, right?"

Brees also owns the third, fourth, and ninth-best seasons in terms of accuracy.

Drew Brees Passes Brett Favre For Most Career Completions

Sep 24, 2018 9:25 AM

Drew Brees has now completed more passes than any player in NFL history.

Brees broke Brett Favre's record with his 6,301st career completion in the second quarter of Sunday's game between the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons.

"I hope there's a lot more coming, but I just think about all of the people that had a hand in that," Brees said. "A lot of hands have caught those passes, and a lot of guys have blocked to make those happen. They all are a part of this, absolutely."

Brees is also on track to set the record for career passing yards within the next few weeks.

He is now 417 yards away from Peyton Manning's mark of 71,940 career passing yards, which he is on pace to reach on Monday Night Football in Week 5.

Drew Brees: Baker Mayfield 'Can Be A Lot Better Than Me'

Sep 14, 2018 8:32 AM

Drew Brees is among those that feel Baker Mayfield has a very bright future in the NFL.

"I think he can be a lot better than me," Brees said on a conference call.

The Cleveland Browns drafted Mayfield with the No. 1 overall pick, but are starting Tyrod Taylor at quarterback. The Browns will face Brees and the New Orleans Saints in Week 2.

"Man, he's got all the tools," Brees said. "He's more athletic. He probably can run around better. He's got a stronger arm."

Brees, who has never met Mayfield, has thrown for 70,884 yards, completed 67 percent of his throws and won a Super Bowl in a 18-year career.

"I followed his college career," Brees said. "Couldn't have been more impressed with what he was able to accomplish, especially last year. Really impressed with the way he plays the game. I think he's a great competitor."
