Before he and his agent have even worked out the terms of his contract, Reggie Bush has been doing charity work in New Orleans.
Bush is yet to practice with the team or perform running drills and has instead been doing charity work in order to raise his name appeal and put pressure on the team to give him a contract that he deems as fair.
"That (the strategy of charity events) is highly unusual," said Marc Ganis, president of Sportscorp Ltd., a Chicago sports marketing firm. "But the whole situation in New Orleans for the past year has been highly unusual. Reggie Bush's people are producing goodwill for him through good civic contributions."

Saints' Offensive Tackle Arrested Following Domestic Abuse
Jammal Brown, offensive tackle for the New Orleans Saints, was free on bond Friday following his arrest on a domestic abuse complaint from his wife.
Brown was booked Thursday with domestic abuse battery after his wife placed a 911 call, said Capt. George Bonnett, a spokesman for the St. Tammany Parish sheriff. When officers responded, Brown was not at home, but returned before officers left, Bonnett said.
"I can certainly say it was a physical altercation," Bonnett said. "We know they had a disagreement that escalated into a physical disagreement."
Brees Feels He Has Improved 'A Thousand Percent'
Drew Brees told the Times Picayune that he has improved "a thousand percent" in the last two weeks of the Saints' organized team activities, developing his timing and rhythm with his new teammates.
Brees said between now and then his plan is to "throw a lot." As he has been throughout the summer, he sounded optimistic and excited about the progress he has made.
Stallworth, Lelie, Johnson Three-Way Deal Denied
Mike Nolan and vice president of player personnel Scot McCloughan on Friday both dismissed rumors the 49ers were interested in trading tight end Eric Johnson for Donte' Stallworth.
The Internet rumor had Johnson going to the Denver Broncos in a three-way trade in which the Broncos would send disgruntled receiver Ashley Lelie to New Orleans and the Saints would send Stallworth to San Francisco.
"Honest to God, that's the first I've heard of it," Nolan said when asked about a trade possibility.
Saints Make Another Deal, This Time With Buffalo
The New Orleans Saints traded linebacker Courtney Watson to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for tight end Tim Euhus.
It's the second time this year that Watson has been traded. He was sent to Miami earlier this offseason but the deal was voided when Eddie Moore, the player the Saints had obtained, failed a physical.
Euhus, entering his third season, has started nine of 23 games in his career. He has 14 receptions for 115 yards and a pair of touchdowns over the past two seasons with the Bills.
The trade is pending league approval.
Fowler Could Lead Group To Purchase Saints
If the New Orleans Saints go on the market, it wouldn't be surprising if Vikings limited partner Reggie Fowler leads an ownership group.
FBI Opens Investigation Into Marketing Firm Tied To Bush
The FBI has opened an investigation into a fledgling San Diego sports marketing firm that tried to recruit Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush, the attorney for the football star's family told The Associated Press Wednesday.
Attorney David Cornwell of Atlanta said FBI agents interviewed him about "potential federal crimes" last week by phone. Cornwell said he intends to make Bush and his parents available to the FBI.
"They've asked now to interview Reggie and his parents," Cornwell said. "I intend to cooperate, yes."
April Langwell, an FBI spokeswoman in San Diego, said she could neither confirm nor deny any investigations.
