The Lions on Monday waived wide receiver Az-Zahir Hakim.
A veteran of eight-plus seasons, Hakim had just 17 receptions for 147 yards in six games with the Lions this year.
"It was a football move," Detroit first-year coach Rod Marinelli said. "I'm not going to elaborate on that."
May 2006 - New Orleans Saints Wiretap
Bush Injures Ankle
Reggie Bush, rookie running back for the Saints, injured his left ankle on a short reception late in New Orleans' 35-22 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, but later said he still expected to play next week in Tampa Bay.
"I'm looking forward to" playing, Bush said after limping from the shower to his locker following the game.
Bush was wrenched to the ground by linebacker Bart Scott, who rolled over Bush's lower legs as the two spun down.
McAllister Pulls Hamstring
An apparent right hamstring pull sidelined Deuce McAllister during the Saints' second offensive series against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
McAllister came out after a bruising 12-yard gain in which he carried several tacklers forward a few yards just before going down. He had 28 yards on his first four carries before going to the sideline, where he lay on his back while being stretched by a trainer.
He then left for the locker room and did not return until late in the first half.
Bush Claims First NFL Player Of The Week Award
Reggie Bush's first career touchdown got him his first weekly award.
The rookie running back for the Saints, Bush was one of six players named as the NFL Players of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.
The second overall pick out of USC, Bush electrified the Superdome crowd Sunday with a 65-yard touchdown on a punt return with 4:17 remaining to seal the Saints' 24-21 victory over the Buccaneers.
Saints' Harper Out For Season With Torn ACL
Rookie safety Roman Harper made an immediate impact with the surprising New Orleans Saints. Unfortunately, he will not be able to help them any more this season.
Harper suffered a torn ACL in his left knee in the Saints' 24-21 win over Tampa Bay last Sunday.
"It's unfortunte because he's been playing well," Saints coach Sean Payton said.
Bush Scores First TD On Punt Return; Saints Beat Bucs
Reggie Bush finally got into the end zone for the first time as an NFL player -- and at a critical time.
Bush, the New Orleans Saints' rookie running back, scored his first touchdown as a pro on a 65-yard punt return with under five minutes remaining to give the Saints a 24-21 lead over Tampa Bay on Sunday. New Orleans went on to win by that same score.
