Saints rookie Marques Colston, the NFL's receiving leader through first 10 weeks, left Week 11's game against the Cincinnati Bengals with an apparent ankle injury. Colston was blocking on a Deuce McAllister running play to his side of the field when he got bowled over from behind by several tacklers. Colston stayed on his back, wincing as trainers looked at him and the crowd began to chant his name. He then got up and jogged to the bench as the crowd erupted. He was taken on a cart to the locker room after several minutes, then came back to the sideline late in the first quarter and got the ankle taped again.

The agent for Drew Brees sent the quarterback's mother a letter on October 20th threatening legal action over a series of ads featuring his image. In commercials running on Austin stations, Mina Brees had been using a picture of her son in the uniform of his former team, the San Diego Chargers, to emphasize her ties to football. "I think the major point here is that my mother is using me in a campaign, and I've made it known many times I don't want to be involved," Drew Brees said Monday.
