The Wilf family that owns the Minnesota Vikings has emerged as a serious candidate to buy the Minnesota Timberwolves, according to sources.

A decision on the sale of the basketball team may not be made until September.

Glen Taylor has owned the team since 1994, when he bought it for about $88 million.

The Wilfs bought the Vikings from Red McCombs in 2005 for $600 million. The NFL franchise's value now likely would be well over $3 billion.
