Aaron Rodgers: 'Absolutely Crazy' To Think Mike Zimmer Is On Hot Seat

Oct 29, 2020 8:46 AM

The Minnesota Vikings are 1-5, but one of their biggest rivals doesn't think Mike Zimmer's job should be in jeopardy.

"He's a phenomenal coach," Aaron Rodgers said of Zimmer. "I was telling a friend of mine, to see (Zimmer) mentioned to be on the hot seat, to me, is absolutely crazy. I think he's one of the best coaches in the league and has been for a long time.

"They don't all give you the trouble and the scheme that Mike does. I have a lot of respect for the way he coaches and the way he especially coaches defense."

The Green Bay Packers (5-1) will face the Vikings on Sunday.

Rick Spielman Doesn't Think Vikings Have Lost Faith In Kirk Cousins

Oct 23, 2020 9:00 AM

The Minnesota Vikings are 1-5 and Kirk Cousins has thrown 10 interceptions on the season.

After last Sunday's loss to the Atlanta Falcons, Cousins said that he "won’t finish the season" if he keeps throwing interceptions at this rate.

Despite the quarterback's self assessment, Rick Spielman says no one within the organization has lost confidence in Cousins.

"You just kind of have to go back and look at the big picture," Spielman said. "But I don’t think anyone has lost any faith in Kirk Cousins. I expect him to come back after the bye week and play well for us."

Cousins' entire $21 million salary for next season is guaranteed and his 2022 salary will become guaranteed if he's on the roster three days into the 2021 league year.

Ravens Acquire Yannick Ngakoue From Vikings

Oct 22, 2020 1:55 PM

The Minnesota Vikings have traded Yannick Ngakoue to the Baltimore Ravens for a 2021 third round pick and a 2022 conditional fifth round pick.

Ngakoue will fly to Baltimore in the next 24 hours to go through COVID-19 testing.

The Vikings acquired Ngakoue from the Jaguars before the start of the season. Ngakoue had hoped to be traded to the Ravens all along as a native of the area.

"We are excited to add Yannick Ngakoue to our football team," Baltimore GM Eric DeCosta said. "Yannick is someone who we are very familiar with going back to the draft process years ago. He is an exciting player and a dangerous pass-rusher who makes us better. Yannick grew up here. He's the type of person we welcome in our building. Finally, we are not finished building this team, as we continue to chase our ultimate goals."

Kirk Cousins Expects To Get Benched If Interceptions Continue

Oct 19, 2020 8:38 AM

While Mike Zimmer isn't considering making a change from Kirk Cousins at quarterback, Cousins acknowledged he will need to stop throwing interceptions if he wants to keep his job.

"The reality is if the pace I'm on in terms of the interceptions, if that were to continue, I won't finish the season," Cousins said. "I won't -- you know what I mean? There's a little bit of, you got to improve. Whether it's them telling me, 'Hey, we gotta improve,' or them pulling me; we got to get better. That's what the rest of the season will be about for me, is trying to protect the football as best I can. Because when you turn the ball over, it really hurts your chances to win. I know that. I just need to improve as we look ahead to the rest of the season."

Cousins was given a two-year, $66 million extension in March that keeps him under contract in Minnesota through the 2022 season.

"I need to correct it," Cousins said. "I need to finish the season with a different story, regarding the interceptions, so that's something I need to improve with the remaining games we have. I don't know that I'd limit it to the interceptions. I think it's just the entire offensive performance. It's just, I need to be better, we need to be better."
