Le'Veon Bell Chose Chiefs For Chance To 'Reinvent' Himself

Oct 21, 2020 4:05 PM

Le'Veon Bell chose to sign with the Kansas City chiefs for the chance he can "reinvent" himself after a disappointing stint with the New York Jets.

"I played at a high level for so long," Bell said, referring to his five seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. "I had two years [with the New York Jets] where it has not been a high level, and people kind of look at it like that. So I wanted to get here, get my feet back under me, get in a good offense, get the ball when I can [and] not have too much pressure on me, just play football.

"I think coming here will give me the opportunity to do that. There are a lot of [good] players. I don't necessarily have to worry about how many times I'm touching it."

Clyde Edwards-Helaire Willing To Learn From Le'Veon Bell

Oct 20, 2020 9:06 AM

The Kansas City Chiefs ran the ball 46 times for a season-high 245 yards in their 26-17 victory over the Buffalo Bills on Monday afternoon.

It marked just the second time they ran more than they passed with Patrick Mahomes at quarterback. It was also the most rush attempts any Andy Reid-coached team has ever recorded in a single game.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire had 161 yards on 26 carries just a few days after the Chiefs signed Le'Veon Bell.

"Talking to Le'Veon, he's another piece to the puzzle," Edwards-Helaire said. "From here, I just feel like we can only go up. Le'Veon is older than me. I'm still in my rookie year, so, ultimately, anything that I can do to pick his brain and gain any knowledge from him, I'm there for it."

Patrick Mahomes: Close Contact With Stephon Gilmore 'Mental Lapse'

Oct 7, 2020 5:18 PM

Patrick Mahomes described his close interaction with Stephon Gilmore after Monday's game as "a little bit of a mental lapse."

"I was just trying to show respect to a great football player who I hope is getting better very quickly," Mahomes said Wednesday. "I'll just try to keep away from that and try not to do it again."

Gilmore said in a tweet Wednesday that he is currently asymptomatic.

"I've followed every protocol, yet it happened to me," he said. "Please be sure to take this seriously."

The Chiefs last week had a practice squad quarterback, Jordan Ta'amu, test positive for COVID-19.

Patrick Mahomes: I Didn't Play Very Good Football Against Patriots

Oct 6, 2020 8:55 AM

The Kansas City Chiefs moved to 4-0 with a win over the New England Patriots in this past week's delayed game.

While the Chiefs won, Patrick Mahomes wasn't his usual explosive self. The Patriots' defense held the Chiefs without a touchdown in the first half.

Mahomes went 19-for-29 with 236 yards and two touchdowns. He rushed eight times for 28 yards as well.

"I didn't play very good football," Mahomes said. "Our defense stepped up, made a lot of big-time plays. Whenever you're trying to go throughout a season and win as many football games as possible to set you up for the playoffs, you're going to have to win games like this."
