The NFLPA will open an investigation after Urban Meyer admitted that vaccination status played a role in roster cuts made by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Meyer said Tuesday that it was considered because of the more stringent COVID-19 protocols imposed on unvaccinated players who test positive or are identified as high-risk close contacts compared with the protocols for vaccinated players.

Rosters were cut to 53 players Tuesday.

"Everyone was considered," Meyer said. "That was part of the [considerations such as] production, let's start talking about this, and also is he vaccinated or not? Can I say that that was a decision maker? It was certainly in consideration."

Unvaccinated players are tested daily, and those who test positive must miss 10 days, and there is then a three-day return-to-play protocol.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have traded cornerback Sidney Jones to the Seattle Seahawks.

Seattle sent Jacksonville a 2022 sixth-round pick in the deal.

The Seahawks also traded for cornerback John Reid from the Houston Texans recently. In that deal, they sent out a conditional seventh-rounder.

As the Jacksonville Jaguars prepare for their first season under Urban Meyer, a report suggests that some of the team's players aren't thrilled with the longtime college coach's approach.

"They haven't gotten off to a good start, that's obvious," longtime NFL writer Pete Prisco recently said on The DA Show. "He clearly does not like losing, even if it's in the preseason. I heard he had a rough go of it last week just because he lost his first preseason game, and that's not an attitude that you need to have in the NFL. 

"He's got to change a few things. He brought a bunch of college-like things to the program which I don't necessarily agree with. I've heard some of the players aren't thrilled with them either."

The Jacksonville Jaguars have named Trevor Lawrence their Week 1 starter on Sept. 12th.

"We wanted him to earn it, as we do with every position," Meyer said. "We felt he has, after [Monday] night's performance was -- it was good, obviously not great. We didn't run the ball very well. I kind of in my mind had that [deadline] after the second preseason [game] that we kind of have to get someone ready to play in three weeks."

Lawrence had been alternating practice days with the first-team offense with Gardner Minshew throughout training camp but started both preseason games.

Travis Etienne will miss the entire 2021 season after being placed on injured reserve Tuesday.

Etienne will undergo surgery for a Lisfranc injury.

The Jaguars drafted Etienne 25th overall in the 2021 draft. Urban Meyer said he planned on having Etienne line up at receiver in addition to running back, similar to the way he used Percy Harvin at Florida.

Etienne left Clemson as the ACC's all-time leading rusher (4,752 yards).

Travis Etienne is out indefinitely with a midfoot sprain suffered in Monday night's preseason loss to New Orleans Saints.

Etienne's injured left foot will require further testing, according to a source. The Jacksonville Jaguars rookie running back was seen wearing a protective boot after the game.

The Jaguars drafted Etienne 25th overall in April, and Urban Meyer said he planned on having him line up at receiver in addition to running back.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have cut Tim Tebow.

Jacksonville signed Tebow this offseason as he had previously played for Urban Meyer at Florida. 

Tebow last played in an NFL regular season game in 2012 with the New York Jets.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have acquired linebacker Joe Schobert from the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to a report.

Schobert was a presumed starter for the Jaguars.

He signed a lucrative five-year, $53.8 million deal with the Jaguars ahead of the 2020 campaign.

The New Orleans Saints are looking to add a cornerback before the start of the 2021 season.

They are reportedly exploring trade options, including C.J. Henderson of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Jacksonville used the ninth overall pick on Henderson in 2020, but reports surfaced over the weekend that he was being shopped.
