Urban Meyer Hasn't Considered Resigning With Jaguars

Oct 7, 2021 8:51 AM

Urban Meyer says he never considered resigning as head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars in the wake of two viral videos that emerged showing him with at least one woman who was not his wife at his restaurant in Columbus, Ohio.

Meyer did apologize again Wednesday, once to players and staff in a full team meeting in the morning and again to the fans to close his regularly scheduled news conference.

The first-year NFL coach also said he supported owner Shad Khan's public rebuke of his actions.

"I had at least three or four conversations with Shad. The message is loud and clear, and I agree with [it]," Meyer said. "Also met with the team on Monday, individually, and then today [as a group]. Had a very pointed conversation with them, owning a stupid mistake that I made. A job of a coach is ... No. 1, health and safety of a player. No. 2 is motivate them or bring out the greatness in them. And No. 3 is give them everything possible to be successful and give them a great locker room and then get the heck out of the way.

"And I apologize for a distraction with a huge week coming up, especially after they made so much improvement from Week 1 to Week 4."

Urban Meyer Apologizes To Jaguars For Viral Video

Oct 4, 2021 12:05 PM

Urban Meyer said Monday he apologized to his team, his family and owner Shad Khan after a viral video surfaced over the weekend that showed a young woman dancing close to his lap.

Meyer visited Columbus, Ohio on Friday night following the Jacksonville Jaguars' loss at the Cincinnati Bengals last week.

Meyer said there was an event happening there and people asked to take photos with him. He said people tried to get him out onto the dance floor and he said he should have left and not allowed the young woman to dance closely in front of him.

"Just stupid," Meyer said. "Should not have myself in that kind of position."

D.J. Chark Suffers Broken Ankle In TNF Loss

Oct 1, 2021 9:17 AM

D.J. Chark broke his left ankle in the Jacksonville Jaguars' 24-21 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday night.

Chark was hurt when teammate James Robinson fell onto Chark's left leg while the wide receiver was blocking a defensive back.

It's unclear at this point if the injury is season-ending. If it is, it could be the last game Chark plays for the Jaguars. He was in the final year of his rookie contract.
