As part of his trade to the Minnesota Vikings, Yannick Ngakoue has agreed to a pay cut.

Vikings Acquire Yannick Ngakoue From Jaguars

Aug 30, 2020 2:34 PM

The Minnesota Vikings have agreed to acquire Yannick Ngakoue from the Jacksonville Jaguars for a 2021 second round pick and a conditional 2022 fifth round pick that could go as high as a third round pick.

Ngakoue still has to sign his franchise tender, but the trade is now in place and he is expected to join the Vikings.

Ngakoue, 25, and the Jaguars will have to coordinate when he is going to sign his franchise tender Sunday so he can be traded to the Vikings. Because Ngakoue did not sign the tender before the July 15 deadline, he must play this season under the tag, valued at $17.8 million, before he can sign a long-term deal.

NFL's 32 Teams Collectively Worth $99 Billion

Aug 26, 2020 1:29 PM

The average NFL franchise is worth more than $3 billion, according to data compiled by Sportico.

The Dallas Cowboys rank first in the NFL at $6.43 billion with the Cincinnati Bengals ranking last at $2.12 billion.

The fair-market value of the NFL's 32 franchises collectively is $99 billion when considering team-related businesses and real estate held by owners.

The teams’ $15.83 billion in revenue in the last fiscal year, which represents the 2019 season, was greater than that of 298 companies on the Fortune 500. That averages to about $495 million per team.

In 2019, the Cowboys generated an estimated $871 million in revenue, which was 81% greater than the average of the other 31 teams.

Aaron Lynch, 27, Tells Jaguars He's Retiring

Aug 18, 2020 9:09 AM

The Jacksonville Jaguars have suffered a loss along their defensive line.

Aaron Lynch, 27, told the team he's retiring for personal reasons.

Lynch is the sixth defensive lineman to either opt out, go on injured reserve or retire since July 31. His retirement comes one day after Rodney Gunter said he was stepping away from the game because of a heart problem.

"The one thing I think I've learned over the history of this league is even though you're doing all these moves or you're doing all these things to fix things and you feel comfortable, at any moment in time those things can change," Doug Marrone said. "And you've got to be prepared and you've got to be able to do it. I know that there will be a lot written about, kind of like you said, these plans that they have, have been blown up. But it's also a great opportunity and a great challenge for these other guys to step up, and if you have that happen, that's great. Especially the young guys.

"The guys that we're talking about [that are not available] were guys that were experienced, guys that have done it before. Having those veteran type of guys brought in, we still have a decent mix, but now it's a little bit more on the younger guys and guys that have been here to step up."

Rodney Gunter Retires Due To Severe Heart Condition

Aug 17, 2020 7:33 PM

Rodney Gunter will retire from the NFL after being diagnosed with a severe heart condition that could require surgery.

Gunter said doctors told him he was at risk of rupturing or tearing his aorta if he continued to play football.

"These last three weeks have been a hard pill to swallow," Gunter said in a statement. "Seeing my dreams vanish right in front of me has been extremely difficult. After seeing several heart specialists I was told if I continue to play ball with my condition, I could possibly rupture or tear my aorta which is enlarged. This can cause sudden death or a severe stroke.

"There is a 50-50 chance that surgery will fix my current health condition. But at the moment, I do not meet the criteria to undergo the operation. Those who qualify must have 5.5+ cm enlarged aorta, while mine measures 5.0 cm. At this time, I cannot play or have the surgery so I must wait. So at this moment, the best choice for me and my family is to walk away from this game.

"I appreciate the Jaguars for giving me an opportunity, and I'm thankful for everyone who has believed in me along the way. Thank you!"

Jaguars Activate Gardner Minshew From COVID-19 List

Aug 4, 2020 2:01 PM

The Jacksonville Jaguars have activated Gardner Minshew from the COVID-19 list.

Minshew said he was placed in quarantine and on the reserve/COVID-19 list because he was around teammate Michael Walker, who did test positive test for COVID-19 over the weekend.

"It was brutal, dude," Minshew said. "Like, yesterday would have been like the first day of school, you know. Had my outfit picked out and everything, had to stay at home. That sucked, missed out on playing with all my friends.

"But yeah did not contract the virus. Took one look at me and ran the other way. It was probably in its best interests, so here we are, we're back on Tuesday ready to roll, excited to go play some football."
