Driver Will Take Pay Cut To Remain In Green Bay

Jun 10, 2014 1:13 PM

Donald Driver is 37 years old and coming off his least productive season in a decade, but he wants to keep playing and remain with the Packers. The wide receiver will take a pay cut in order to do so. "The organization knows what I've done on and off the field, and they want to keep me around as long as possible," Driver told WISN-TV. "If that means sitting down and taking pay cuts to stay around, then you take pay cuts to stay around. I've always said it's not about the money for me anymore. What I'm pushing for is for my legacy to stay around in the state of Wisconsin and around the world forever. So the money's not a big issue."

Favre, Moss Nearly Teamed With Packers In 2007

Aug 2, 2014 11:00 PM

Brett Favre openly longed about his desire to throw the football to Randy Moss during his tenure with the Packers. That vision came close to reality in 2007, according to ESPN's Andrew Brandt, who served as Green Bay's vice president from 1999 to 2008. Back during the 2007 draft, Moss was being shopped by the Raiders. The Packers wanted him, but the Patriots got him.

Matthews Will Never Get Over Loss To Giants

Oct 31, 2014 6:31 AM

More than three months after Green Bay's playoff loss to New York, Packers linebacker Clay Matthews is still hurting. Matthews said Friday on NBC Sports Talk that he didn't watch the Giants win the Super Bowl. "I didn't catch the Super Bowl at all, simply because I was on a plane at that time," Matthews said. "I don't know if you ever really get over it. I still remember losses from my childhood that you never get over. Fortunately we get to play the Giants again this year and hopefully have a little redemption. But more power to them. They obviously came on at the end of the season. They were a six seed, had to go through everyone's backyard and win and that's exactly what they did - similar to what we did two years ago. So we're just looking forward to getting back out there and hopefully show everyone what we're capable of and that's winning another Super Bowl."

Packers Want To Get Nelson More Involved

Jun 16, 2014 4:09 AM

Mike McCarthy wants to get Jordy Nelson more involved in the team's offense, even though he was featured in a prominent role last season. "Jordy is a perfect example of a guy who was given more opportunities last year and performed outstanding," McCarthy said. "We'll keep moving him around, probably play him in the slot a little more than he's played in the past. Those are the kind of things we continue to look at, give him more matchups, expand his route tree where he's maybe more of the focus." Nelson, who started just nine games in 2011, led the Packers in several receiving categories, including catches (68), yards (1,263), yards per catch (18.6) and touchdowns (15).
