Rodgers Expects Packers To Be Better In 2012

May 30, 2014 11:59 AM

Aaron Rodgers insists that the Packers will be better in 2012 despite posting a 15-1 record last season. "We're going to be a better team this year," said Rodgers. "We're going to play better. We'll be better up front [on defense], I think. Different attitude, I think. We brought in some guys with some nasty to them." Green Bay was eliminated by New York in the divisional round of the playoffs. "I think there was a little bit of some too-comfortable mentality," Rodgers said. "One of the things that winning does is it masks some of the issues you might have. When you have a real successful season, the little things get swept under the rug and the big things become little things. It's hard to knock a team on energy and enthusiasm and effort when you're still going out and winning. But it can catch up to you at some point, and it did with us."

Packers Will Look For Ways To Get Cobb Involved

Jul 31, 2014 4:30 AM

The Packers didn't rush the development of Randall Cobb as a rookie last season, but they plan to get him on the field often this fall. Mike McCarthy went into the offseason looking for ways to expand Cobb's role after he spent 2011 as the team's No. 5 receiver. "He is a versatile player," McCarthy said, "and it's important to always try to create schemes where you're giving people the opportunity to make plays."

Holmgren: 'Time Will Fix' Rift Between Favre, Packers

Oct 31, 2014 5:55 PM

Mike Holmgren, who teamed with Brett Favre to deliver a Super Bowl and seven-straight winning seasons to Green Bay, believes that the quarterback will eventually mend fences with the franchise. Favre had a messy divorce with the Packers in 2008. "I think time has a way of healing most things. And I think time will fix this thing up," Holmgren said. "Brett sent me really a nice text about tomorrow night, and I appreciated that, but for him, and I kind of understand where he's coming from a little bit ... I know how everyone would like to make this a better situation than it is right now, and it will be. In time, it will be. But right now, I guess it's a little too close to the time." Holmgren will be inducted into the team's Hall of Fame this weekend.

Publicly-Owned Packers Announce Record Profits

Nov 22, 2014 8:14 PM

The Packers have announced that they had a record year financially, driven in large part by their 13-0 start as the defending Super Bowl champions. Green Bay had $42.7 million in net income in 2011-12, an increase of 150 percent over the previous year. Total revenue was $302 million, up 6.9 percent, largely driven by enthusiasm over a season that included a 15-1 regular-season record. "It was such a great season," president Mark Murphy said. "It kept the excitement level at a very high level." As the NFL's only publicly owned franchise, the Packers are the only NFL team required to reveal detailed financial data.

Cobb To Remain On Green Bay's Return Game

Sep 2, 2014 1:47 PM

Randall Cobb finished second in the NFL in kickoff return average last year and seventh in punts. So will the Packers feature him more as a receiver or keep him on the return game? Special teams coordinator Shawn Slocum said that Cobb will remain in his return role no matter what he's doing on offense. "It's all in the perspective, of how you look at the return game. It is the first play of the offense?" Slocum said. "It's vitally important to setting up field position, the potential to score, things of that nature."
