Wynn Done For Season

Sep 25, 2014 10:04 PM

Rookie tailback DeShawn Wynn, who led the Green Bay Packers in rushing over the first seven games of the season, was placed on injured reserve Tuesday and will miss the rest of the year. Wynn suffered a shoulder injury in Monday night's overtime victory at Denver. Although the X-rays taken during the game were inconclusive, further tests on Tuesday indicated that the injury was serious enough to sideline Wynn for an extended period. First-year tailback Ryan Grant, who rushed for 104 yards on 22 carries against the Broncos, will take over as the starting tailback. Grant will be the third different starting tailback this season for the Packers, whose running game statistically ranks last in the league.

NFL Reinstates Suspended Packers WR Robinson

Oct 31, 2014 5:14 AM

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell reinstated Green Bay Packers wide receiver Koren Robinson on Wednesday after a one-year suspension. "He just got this letter this morning," Agent Alvin Keels said. "He's flying to Green Bay and will start to catch up on things with the team. The Packers have a bye week so he has some time to get caught up." Robinson was suspended a year ago for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. Wednesday was the first day he was eligible to return, and after reviewing Robinson's petition for reinstatement and talking with the league's drug counselor, Goodell granted Robinson's request to return to the NFL.

Favre Sets INT Record, But Green Bay Wins

Oct 31, 2014 10:33 AM

Cornerback Charles Woodson scooped up the ball -- and lifted the spirits of the Green Bay Packers' suddenly sagging offense. Woodson's 57-yard fumble return in the third quarter gave the Packers the go-ahead touchdown in a 17-14 victory over the Washington Redskins at soggy Lambeau Field on Sunday. "It was a big play today," Woodson said. "Hopefully, I have many more to come." The Packers (5-1) won despite an off day from Brett Favre, who became the NFL's career interception king with an errant pass picked off by Redskins safety Sean Taylor in the third quarter. "I could care less," Favre said. "We won the game. I'm glad it's over, just like the other records. We're 5-1, so it feels a lot better than having no picks and being 1-5."

Green Bay's Palmer Has Neck Surgery

Jul 13, 2014 1:47 AM

Guard Tony Palmer of the Green Bay Packers underwent a cervical fusion operation last month for a neck injury that threatens his football career. The operation was performed Sept. 28 by Bob Watkins, a Los Angeles-based neurosurgeon who also performed a cervical fusion on Packers linebacker Johnny Holland in January 1993 for a neck injury in the C2-C3 level of the spine that ended his career. "There's cautious optimism," general manager Ted Thompson said Friday. "This will take a little time. The main thing is to make sure the kid's all right." Palmer, 24, was injured Sept. 16 blocking on a kickoff return against the New York Giants. He suffered no loss of feeling in his arms or legs. At the time, coach Mike McCarthy described the injury as "a small bone fracture" in his neck.

"We will enter not-guilty pleas to the two charges and will defend these charges aggressively," lawyer Avi Berk said. The Packers, who gave the 26-year-old Barnett a six-year, $34.85 million contract extension in April, have monitored the situation since Barnett's arrest, but have previously declined to comment.

Lambeau Neighbors Consider Selling Homes To Team?

Sep 9, 2014 5:02 PM

Lambeau Field neighbors are wondering what the long-term game plan is for properties near the Packers' stadium. The village Planning Board on Tuesday heard from those living close to Lambeau who question what future development means for their homes. Some said they don't want to sell their properties, while others indicated they might sell if the Packers are buying. Ashwaubenon leaders are considering adopting a Lambeau Field Transitional District which would run roughly a few blocks south of the stadium from Oneida Street to Ridge Road. The district would allow for residential homes, day cares or parking.
