Bob Harlan will delay his retirement as the Packers' chief executive officer because hand-picked successor John Jones is taking a leave for personal reasons. Jones, president and chief operating officer, was to have taken over for Harlan next week. The Packers did not elaborate on the reasons Saturday. Jones had open-heart surgery in June 2006. "It's been a very difficult year but also a wonderful year in many respects," Jones said. "I need to step back and recharge my batteries."

Packers' Franks Returns With Fresh Attitude

Sep 20, 2014 7:54 AM

Packers coach Mike McCarthy says no starting jobs were won or lost during the team's three-day minicamp over the weekend. That's good news for Bubba Franks, who had to share a significant amount of practice time as the first-team tight end with Donald Lee. After failing to catch a single touchdown during a disappointing 2006 season, Franks knows he will have to compete for playing time this year and says he's returning with a fresh attitude.

Favre Confirms He Never Wanted Trade

Nov 15, 2014 9:46 PM

Brett Favre arrived at mini-camp on Friday and reiterated his desire to finish his career with the Packers. FoxSports.com reported last Sunday that the future Hall of Fame quarterback asked to be traded after the Packers failed to acquire Randy Moss from the Raiders. "First of all, I want to clear up this trade issue, which I think is a non-issue," Favre said at the Packers' practice facility on Friday. "There never was a trade mentioned or requested by me. I just don't know where it came from."

Farve Reportedly Plans To Skip Minicamp

Nov 15, 2014 10:35 PM

Brett Favre plans to skip the Packers' mandatory minicamp this weekend, saying the move is not related to his frustration with the team's unwillingness to complete a trade for wide receiver Randy Moss. Favre told the Biloxi (Miss.) Sun-Herald that because he is unable to practice while recovering from offseason ankle surgery, he is going to stay home with his family in Mississippi.

Favre: "I Want To Finish My Career As A Packer"

Sep 6, 2014 5:20 PM

Brett Favre acknowledged his anger over the team's unwillingness to pull off a trade for Randy Moss, but denied Monday he ever really wanted the Packers to trade him. "I was frustrated a couple weeks back when Randy Moss was traded to New England," Favre said on the Packers' Web site. "I never wanted to be traded and I don't want to be traded. I want to be in Green Bay. I want to finish my career as a Packer." After Favre spent Saturday venting about the Packers' front office in a handful of media interviews at his annual charity golf tournament, Fox Sports' Web site reported Sunday that Favre's agent called Packers GM Ted Thompson shortly after last month's draft to request a trade.

Favre Reportedly Wanted Trade From Green Bay

Oct 25, 2014 9:42 AM

The Green Bay Packers angered Brett Favre when they did not acquire wide receiver Randy Moss when the opportunity presented itself around the time of the NFL draft. Reportedly, the three-time MVP was angry enough to ask out of Green Bay. Citing anonymous sources, Fox Sports says that Favre's agent called Packers GM Ted Thompson to request a trade shortly after the draft. According to the report, Packers coach Mike McCarthy then called the quarterback and calmed him down, with Favre finally admitting that he did not want to play anywhere else but Green Bay. "I think it's natural for a player to be frustrated from time to time -- that's simply being human," Thompson said. "Everyone knows that Brett Favre is all about winning. As an organization, we share that commitment. And we want to win now." Favre did not mention wanting a trade in interviews during his annual charity golf tournament but did say the Packers passed on a chance to make "a steal" of a deal for Moss (who ended up in Oakland instead). "He was going to wipe his contract clean and sign for $3 million guaranteed, plus a fourth-round draft pick. That would have been a steal," Favre said. "But we were not willing to guarantee part of that $3 million. I even had (Cook) call up there and tell them I would give up part of my salary to guarantee that part of the money. Apparently that wasn't enough either."

Favre Not Ready For Minicamp

Nov 15, 2014 10:35 PM

Brett Favre's surgically repaired ankle is not strong enough for him to take part in the Green Bay Packers' minicamp next week. It is not clear whether Favre will even attend the camp. When Favre and coach Mike McCarthy planned the quarterback's offseason schedule, they included him attending the upcoming camp. However, that was before Favre decided to have surgery February 26 to remove bone spurs from his left ankle. McCarthy had said that he's expecting Favre to attend the mandatory camp, but a source close to Favre told the Press-Gazette that Favre is not planning on attending because he prefers to work at home with a personal trainer to rehabilitate his ankle. Favre's agent, Bus Cook, said he's not certain of his client's intentions. "I don't know if he is or he isn't (going to attend)," Cook said.
