Lions Hire Anthony Lynn As Offensive Coordinator

Jan 23, 2021 8:56 PM

The Detroit Lions have hired Anthony Lynn as offensive coordinator.

Dan Campbell wanted to get experience on his staff with the Lions as a first time head coach.

Lynn was offensive coordinator with the Buffalo Bills for one season in 2016.

"What's more important than anything to me as far as an offensive coordinator is someone that I believe has the vision of the offense kind of the way I do," Campbell said Thursday. "Just in regard to, 'Listen, I'm not going to get hung up on what you want to call the terminology. I'm not going to get hung up on the style of system that you want to put in.'

"I'm more into, 'Man, show me what are the nuts and bolts that you believe in.'"

New Lions GM To Evaluate Matthew Stafford, Rest Of Roster

Jan 20, 2021 8:58 AM

New Detroit Lions general manager Brad Holmes believes Matthew Stafford is a "great player" but he will evaluate the team's entire roster this offseason.

Stafford has two years left on his contract.

"What you really appreciate is that the talent was easy to see, but you really appreciate how his intangibles show on film," Holmes said of Stafford. "How urgent he plays, how competitive he is, the toughness that he shows. But it is my job to evaluate the entire roster, and through that process I have not had any discussions with Matt or any players, for that matter.

"So you know, I just want to be fair into the process to make sure we evaluate that thoroughly, but obviously, Matt, very good football player."
