Anthony Lynn Initially Planned To Take 2021 Season Off

Jul 7, 2021 8:26 AM

Anthony Lynn planned to take a year off after he was fired by the Los Angeles Chargers after the 2020 season.

However, his plans changed when Dan Campbell called him about joining his staff with the Detroit Lions.

Campbell and Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn played for the Dallas Cowboys when Lynn was the team's running backs coach.

"I got to know those two very well. They handled themselves like coaches as players. And so because coach [Bill] Walsh kind of picked me out and sat me aside and talked to me about coaching and it worked, I try to do the same thing with current players," Lynn said. "I just helped plant that seed -- when you're done playing, that's something I think you should do. And I did that with Dan and Aaron Glenn.

"And I was actually going to sit this year out, but when they called, I had to go because I wanted to be a part of that. I knew it was going to be special."

Jamaal Williams Embraces 'New Beginning' With Lions

Jul 2, 2021 8:52 AM

Jamaal Williams is excited for a "new beginning" with the Detroit Lions.

Williams joined the Lions this offseason. They have a new general manager, revamped coaching staff and overhauled roster.

"I see this as just a new beginning, a new time for me to just be able to show my talents and show my abilities and everything I've just been working on this whole offseason," Williams said. "I always know that I can always work on something to get better and find something that I can improve or find something new."

Williams spent four seasons with the Green Bay Packers after they drafted him in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
