Matthew Stafford, who has played in just three playoff games in 12 seasons, is excited for the possibility of playing in big games with the Los Angeles Rams.

"I've always wanted to play in those big games, I feel like I will excel in those situations,"Stafford said. "I wanted to shoot my shot."

The Lions-Rams trade will be completed next month.

Jared Goff is ready to move on in the wake of the blockbuster trade that sent him from the Los Angeles Rams to the Detroit Lions.

"As the quarterback, as the guy that's at arguably the most important position on the field, if you're in a place that you're not wanted and they want to move on from you, the feeling's mutual," Goff said. "You don't want to be in the wrong place. It became increasingly clear that was the case."

The Rams traded Goff, along with two first-round picks and a third-rounder, to the Lions for Matthew Stafford.

"That's the tough part right now is trying to figure that out, when did that happen?" Goff said of when the Rams decided he was no longer part of their future. "Those are all conversations that I may or may not have, and try to figure it out. That's the conversation to have."

The Los Angeles Rams weren't the only team willing to give up a lot to acquire Matthew Stafford from the Detroit Lions.

The Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers were all offering a first-round pick and more in talks for Stafford.

The Indianapolis Colts, San Francisco 49ers and Washington Football Team were also in the mix to acquire the quarterback.

As the Detroit Lions shopped Matthew Stafford, the quarterback was reportedly willing to go anywhere but to the New England Patriots.

Stafford was traded to the Los Angeles Rams for Jared Goff and picks over the weekend.

No reason for Stafford's desire to avoid the Patriots was given in the report.
