The Detroit Lions explored trading up with the Atlanta Falcons for the fourth overall pick with an eye on taking Ja'Marr Chase, according to a report.

Ultimately, Atlanta's asking price for the No. 4 pick was too high.

The Lions have the 7th overall pick and a need at wide receiver.

Brad Holmes says the Detroit Lions are open to trading the No. 7 pick.

"Yeah, there has been discussion with other teams," Holmes said. "I will keep those in-house, but there has been discussions."

The Lions ranked last in team defense in 2020.

"At 7, we do have a cluster of players that we're comfortable with picking, but at the same time we will be very prepared and also willing to move in either direction," Holmes said. "So, we're still open in those regards, but there are a cluster of players that we would be comfortable with."

The Detroit Lions and New England Patriots are the latest teams to say they will not formally report to their respective team facilities next week to begin voluntary offseason workouts.

The Denver Broncos, Seattle Seahawks and Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Tuesday announced their intentions to skip the workouts, while the Lions and "some of us" from the Patriots joined them in making the decision on Wednesday.

Offseason programs are scheduled to begin April 19 leaguewide, at which point daily testing for players and staff will commence.

Quinton Dunbar is signing a one-year deal with the Detroit Lions.

The 28-year-old defensive back finished 2020 with one interception and five passes defended for the Seattle Seahawks.

He played in just six games because of a knee problem that required season-ending surgery.
