The Detroit Lions and Matthew Stafford have agreed to part ways this offseason as the team will seek a trade.

The Lions are expected to receive at least a first round pick for Stafford.

Stafford approached the Lions about the possibility of a trade being in the best interest of both parties, but the franchise tabled that discussion until completing the coach and GM searches.

Stafford turns 33 in February and signed a $135 million extension with the Lions in 2017.
