San Francisco 20, Jacksonville 3 Team Trench Counter: 49ers +0.8, Jaguars -0.8 The San Francisco 49ers (5-6) scored 14 points in the second quarter as they knocked off the Jacksonville Jaguars (6-5) at Candlestick Park. Chris Johnson excelled once again, rushing 18 times for 154 yards and a score. Matt Leinart, starting in place of the injured Kurt Warner, went 21-for-31 with 220 yards. Tim Hightower (55 yards and a touchdown) and Chris ?Beanie? Wells (20 yards) weren?t overly productive, which didn?t help Leinart?s cause. Broncos Hold Players Only Meeting

Dec 17, 2014 3:58 AM

In the midst of a four-game losing streak, the Broncos held a players only meeting on Tuesday. Veteran safety Brian Dawkins called for the meeting, which head coach Josh McDaniels was aware of. "We talked," Dawkins said. "What we do as a team, we keep that stuff to ourselves. But if we're winning and we have that same argument on the sidelines, does anybody report that? If they do, they say it's our passion. But because we lost that game, and guys were a little emotional, then it's a bad thing. "I don't buy into that. That's not who we are, who we've been throughout this year. I don't worry about that. Those are things that happen on the sideline. That is passion."

Broncos Starting To Fight With Each Other

Oct 31, 2014 11:35 AM

In the wake of four straight losses, the Broncos are starting to crumble from within. Denver wide receiver Brandon Marshall says that he isn't sorry for yelling at rookie running back Knowshon Moreno on the sidelines following a fumble on Sunday. "We've got a lot of emotional players on our team. I'm an emotional person myself," coach Josh McDaniels said. "Sometimes that happens. I'm not saying it's good, as long as people can work things out. Obviously we don't want to make scenes or problems for ourselves on the sideline. But there are a lot of things that happen on the sideline that involve emotion."

McDaniels Talks Trash To Chargers Before Game

Sep 30, 2014 7:39 PM

Denver's head coach Josh McDaniels told San Diego's linebackers, "We own you." "I'm not surprised," Shaun Phillips said. "He's a little cocky (rear end). It's all good, all fun and games. We didn't look too much into it. As a coach, I hope he has that mind-set. But to say he owns us? I mean, you beat us one time. What has he really done in this league? He had a team 6-0 and now he's looking up at us from second place." McDaniels said after the game as he headed to his car that the Chargers "talked to me first." He then said, "I'm not making a story about this. If I did, I'd be able to tell you some things that aren't for papers."

Feb 16, 2014 1:41 AM

Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton's status for Sunday's game against the Chargers won't be determined until right before kickoff. Orton missed practice for the third straight day on Friday because of a sprained left ankle. "If Kyle is completely able to do what we're going to ask him to do in the game plan, and can do it at a level that allows us to be successful, then we could give him an opportunity to play," coach Josh McDaniels said. "If he's not capable of playing at that level, or doing some of the things that we need him to be able to do, then you go with the guy who practiced." If Orton can't play, Chris Simms will start for Denver.
