Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall missed the team's morning practice on Tuesday for health reasons.
Denver coach Josh McDaniels said the decision to sit Marshall was precautionary after the receiver felt soreness following his first workout on Monday.
Marshall had offseason hip surgery, but McDaniels didn't elaborate what was bothering the receiver.

Marshall Reports To Broncos Camp
Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall reported to camp on Monday, avoiding heavy fines for not participating.
Monday was the deadline for rookies and players coming off injury to report to training camp.
"I'm happy to be playing football. That's what I've done since I was a little boy and hopefully that's what I can continue to do," Marshall told The Denver Post.
Players who miss training camp practices are, by league rules, fined $15,888 per day.
"Fifteen thousand. I mean, it's got to stop eventually. I definitely didn't want to get that fine, so I'm here," he said.
Broncos, Smith Reach Four-Year Deal
The Broncos have reached a four-year deal with rookie cornerback Alphonso Smith, according to agent Drew Rosenhaus.
Terms of the four-year deal weren't available, but Smith, the 37th overall pick, is the highest second-round pick to agree to a deal.
Denver traded their No. 1 pick in the 2010 draft to Seattle to acquire Smith's rights.
Bailey Strives For Super Bowl Appearance
Champ Bailey has long been considered one of the best defensive backs in the league, but he's still looking for his first trip to the Super Bowl.
Bailey is entering his 11th season in the NFL, and has eight Pro Bowl nominations under his belt.
"The older I get, the more it bothers me," Bailey said of the fact that he hasn't yet played in a Super Bowl.
He missed the Pro Bowl in 2008 because of injury, but he told the Denver Post that those individual honors don't motivate him.
"That's not what really drives me," he said. "Winning it all drives me. I'm not concerned with the Pro Bowls. They come as you play well. Don't get me wrong, they're great when you get them, but I want to be in the championship game at the end of the year."
Broncos Sign Pair Of Draft Picks
The Broncos have signed second-round pick Richard Quinn and fifth-round pick Kenny McKinley.
The deals were announced on Thursday, but terms were not known.
Trial Will Determine Marshall's 2009 Status
The NFL could discipline Brandon Marshall for the same incident twice, depending on how a jury rules next month in Atlanta.
Marshall is scheduled for trial Aug. 13 on a misdemeanor battery charge in the Georgia State Court of Fulton County.
The receiver's trial stems from an incident March 4, 2008, for which NFL commissioner Roger Goodell suspended Marshall for the first game of last season.
Knowshown Expected To Start In Denver
Mike Klis of the Denver Post had an interesting response when asked about the Broncos' running game recently.
Klis was asked by a reader if the job of starting running back was Moreno's to lose.
"It's Moreno's job, period. The first running back selected in the draft, as Moreno was when the Broncos nabbed him with their No. 12 overall pick, is expected to have a big rookie season," Klis wrote.
"A big year for Moreno, though, could be 800 yards rushing and 500 yards receiving. McDaniels' offense, remember, will predominantly operate out of the shotgun. Not many shotgun-oriented teams have 25-carry-a-game tailbacks.
"Moreno probably won't start during the preseason and Buckhalter may even start many games during the regular season. By midseason, though, expect opponents to focus their game plan around stopping the rookie from Georgia."
Shanahan Not Allowed To Say Anything About Broncos
Mike Shanahan has a clause in his contract that prohibits him from saying much of anything about the Broncos.
He will be paid $7 million this season not to coach or say anything derogatory about his former team.
Shanahan Wants To Coach Again
Mike Shanahan wants to be a head coach in the NFL again, possibly as soon as 2010.
He told NFL.com that he had the opportunity to interview for positions this offseason, but "it just didn't feel right at the time."
The Broncos surprisingly fired Shanahan after the team failed to make the playoffs for the third consecutive year.
"I plan on getting back," said Shanahan. "I probably spent more time studying football the last offseason than I have the last 10 years. I watch a lot of film and do the same thing I do during the season. I'll see if there are any opportunities out there at the end of the year that will work out for the club and myself."
Lynch: 'Buyer Beware' With Marshall
Former Broncos safety John Lynch says that teams should be wary of trading for receiver Brandon Marshall.
Lynch was Marshall's teammate during the 2006 and 2007 seasons in Denver.
"I don't like saying [buyer beware], but you've got to call a spade a spade, and I think it's a dangerous proposition," Lynch said. "I don't think you'll see the Broncos sign him to a long-term deal, because right now the behavior he's demonstrated off the field, I don't think you'd feel comfortable doing anything long term.
"As I said, on the field, he's very comparable to a guy like Terrell Owens. He's that good of a player. But being a professional in my mind ... takes doing it on the field and off the field. You can't have all choir boys. I believe in first and second chances, but when you're talking about 13 or 14 ... I think at a certain point you've got to say this guy's got some issues that he's got to work out before you can trust him."
