McDaniels Takes Subtle Shot At Cutler

Sep 17, 2014 10:48 AM

Broncos coach Josh McDaniels took a subtle shot at Jay Cutler following Sunday night's preseason battle between Chicago and Denver. "It was a great atmosphere. This is certainly more than a six on a scale of 1 to 10," McDaniels told the Associated Press. "There's certainly a level of excitement you don't usually see in most preseason games." The comment was a shot at Cutler, who had disparaged Denver's fans recently by saying that Chicago's followers were a 9 and Denver's a 6 earlier this month. The Bears defeated the Broncos 27-17. "It's a little bit weird. Different locker room, different sideline," Cutler said. "But that's how it goes. I love where I'm at in Chicago. I think we're heading in the right direction offensively."

Cutler, McDaniels Not Excited To Meet

Oct 29, 2014 12:20 AM

Jay Cutler and Josh McDaniels aren't excited to see each other on Sunday night. The Bears, who acquired Cutler from the Broncos this offseason, will face off against Denver, who is coached by McDaniels, in a preseason game in Colorado. Both men insist that the game will be all business. "There are not two people out there playing on Sunday night," McDaniels told the Associated Press. The pair aren't expected to shake hands. "I'm not going to seek him out," Cutler proclaimed.

Denver Suspends Brandon Marshall

Sep 17, 2014 10:48 AM

The Broncos have suspended Brandon Marshall for conduct detrimental to the team. The punishment stems from Marshall's shocking display of unprofessionalism during practice Wednesday. He was lackadaisical during individual running drills. He didn't run routes or catch passes during another position drill, instead choosing to hold a dummy and knocking the receivers as they came off the line. A KMGH-7 video caught Marshall punting the ball away after one drill instead of handing it to a ball boy, as the players are told.

"We can't make it more than it is." The Bears will face off against the Broncos in Denver on Sunday. "Probably poorly," Cutler said of how he would be received by fans. "That would be my first guess."

Brandon Marshall Admits 'Error In Judgment'

Oct 29, 2014 12:28 AM

Brandon Marshall admitted to ESPN on Thursday that he mishandled his frustration with the Broncos. Marshall added that he's not trying to force the team to trade him by acting up. In video shown by Denver's ABC affiliate, Marshall was seen knocking down passes thrown his way and punting the ball away from a ball boy during Wednesday's practice. "I think everybody knows there's a lot of stuff built up there, and me handling it that way wasn't good," Marshall said during the ESPN interview. "I think if I could do it again I definitely wouldn't punt the ball." The wide receiver asked for a trade this summer after the Broncos declined to rework a contract which will pay him $2.2 million this season. "I'm not out there trying to be a distraction to the team," Marshall said. "Unfortunately, yesterday I kind of let my frustration get the best of me."

McDaniels: Marshall Fully Participates In Practice

Oct 29, 2014 12:28 AM

Brandon Marshall was fully involved in Denver's practice on Tuesday, according to coach Josh McDaniels. "He did everything that we were doing there, he did our drills," McDaniels told the Associated Press of the weather-shortened workout. "We didn't get to finish practice obviously, but it was a nice crisp practice today." McDaniels added that he is unsure if Marshall will make his preseason debut with the Broncos against the Bears on Sunday. "We'll find out as we go through the week," McDaniels said. "When the players are ready to play, they'll play."
