Since the common draft era began in 1967, Washington in 2000; the 1994, '92 and '82 Colts; and the 1979 Bills have had a pair of picks in the top-5.

The Cleveland Browns own the first and fifth overall picks in this year's draft.

The 10 players selected in those drafts spent 68 combined seasons in the NFL but played in only 17 Pro Bowls and 17 playoff games for the teams that drafted them. The bulk of those Pro Bowls belong to Marshall Faulk.

The Browns are widely expected to select a quarterback with the first overall pick.

The Cleveland Browns have traded Cody Kessler to the Jacksonville Jaguars for a conditional seventh round pick in 2019.

Kessler became expendable on Sunday when the Browns signed veteran Drew Stanton.

The Browns drafted Kessler in the third round of the 2016 draft out of USC, and he was pressed into service as a rookie when Robert Griffin III and Josh McCown both went down with injuries.

Kessler was never a favorite of coach Hue Jackson.

Drew Stanton has agreed to a two-year deal with the Cleveland Browns.

Stanton joins Tyrod Taylor on Cleveland's quarterback depth chart. They are also expected to draft a quarterback next month.

They own the first and fourth picks in April's NFL Draft.

The Cleveland Browns and New York Giants worked out UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen on Tuesday in Los Angeles, according to a report.

Both teams are expected to attend USC's pro day on Wednesday to get a look at Sam Darnold.

The Browns hold the No. 1 and No. 4 picks, while the Giants sit at No. 2.

Hue Jackson says there will be no quarterback controversy involving the Cleveland Browns this coming season.

Jackson said Thursday that Tyrod Taylor will be the team's unquestioned starter.

"He's going to be the starting quarterback," Jackson said. "There is no competition."

It remains to be seen if the Browns will take a quarterback in next month's NFL Draft and how that might change Jackson's opinion.

The Cleveland Browns have made some bold moves this offseason, but they now have a massive hole to fill.

After 11 seasons, Joe Thomas has decided to retire.

"This was an extremely difficult decision, but the right one for me and my family," Thomas said in a statement to the team's website. "Playing in the NFL has taken a toll on my body and I can no longer physically compete at the level I need to.

"From the moment I was drafted, the city embraced me in a way that I could never fully describe. I am proud to call Cleveland home. The loyalty and passion of the fans is unmatched and it was an honor to play in front of them from the past 11 years. I would like to thank all of the coaches, teammates, staff, fans and everyone who has shown me support throughout my career. Even though I will be hanging up my cleats, I will always be a Cleveland Brown."

Thomas, who played 10,363 consecutive snaps before his injury last season, made 10 Pro Bowls and six times was voted All-Pro.

The Cleveland Browns will sign Terrence Mitchell to a three-year, $12 million deal, according to a report.

Mitchell started 11 games for the Kansas City Chiefs over the last two seasons.

John Dorsey, Cleveland's new general manager, came over from Kansas City.

The Cleveland Browns are expected to sign Carlos Hyde to a three-year deal worth more than $15 million, according to a source.

Hyde will reported receive $6 million in the first year of the deal.

He has produced consecutive 900-plus yard seasons for the San Francisco 49ers.

The Cleveland Browns have agreed to trade Danny Shelton to the New England Patriots for a third round pick in 2019. Cleveland will also send their own 2018 fifth round pick to the Patriots.

Shelton has played in 46 regular-season games (45 starts), totaling 71 tackles and 1.5 sacks. The Washington alum was a highly touted prospect coming out of college, in part because of his strength at the line of scrimmage against the run.

Shelton joins 2015 first-round pick Malcom Brown and seven-year veteran Lawrence Guy atop the Patriots' interior defensive line depth chart.

The Cleveland Browns have agreed to acquire Tyrod Taylor in exchange for the No. 65 overall pick.

The Browns will likely pick a quarterback in the draft but Taylor gives them a veteran at the position.

The Browns also acquired Jarvis Landry from the Dolphins.

Cleveland was expected to have interest in AJ McCarron. 

The Browns also expressed interest in Taylor last offseason.
