Browns Could Use Delhomme, Wallace At QB

Oct 6, 2014 7:24 PM

The Browns might be looking to use Jake Delhomme and Seneca Wallace at quarterback this season in hopes of using their contrasting styles. "I don't think you could rule out the possibility of having them both play," Browns coach Eric Mangini said recently. "I think Seneca has had a really nice camp. It's a different style than Jake's, which is good because it puts some different pressures on the defense. Seneca gives you some flexibility to do some things, just like Jake has certain things that he does. "If you can incorporate them both in a plan that makes sense, that works, then that could be a good thing. Then you have a guy like Josh Cribbs, he presents different problems. Now you put Josh Cribbs and Seneca in the game together, they can present different problems." Delhomme is a pocket passer, while Wallace relies more on his agility.

Jerome Harrison With Browns For OTAs Without Contract

Jul 31, 2014 11:19 PM

Jerome Harrison, who rushed for 561 yards in the final three games of last season, has been participating in organized team activities this week despite not signing his one-year tender yet. Harrison was absent on Thursday, the one day of the week open to the media, but was here the first two days of the session. Eric Mangini said Harrison's absence was unrelated to his contract situation. Mangini said Harrison is the only unrestricted free agent participating. The absentees are Matt Roth, D'Qwell Jackson, Lawrence Vickers and Abe Elam. "I think it's good for everyone to be here because it's the second round of install and it helps the player and it helps us for when we go to camp,'' said Mangini. "I'm glad Jerome is here and I expect him to be here next week.''

Jackson told the Cleveland Plain Dealer of his plans, despite being medically cleared to play. "I still want to retire as a Cleveland Brown, but I have to be protected," Jackson said. "Unfortunately, this is the business side of it and I have to do what I have to do. But on Sundays, I'll still be the same player I've been for the last four years."

Matt Roth has asked the Browns to trade him. Roth, a restricted free-agent pass rusher, had four sacks last season. The two sides are not close on a multiyear contract extension. Roth is saying he will not sign his tender, so there is a standoff in Cleveland, which is why the trade was requested.
