Browns Expect Ndamukong Suh Review

Nov 12, 2014 5:16 PM

Lions rookie defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh grabbed Jake Delhomme's face mask, twisted it, wrapped his arms around the Browns quarterback's head and slammed him to the ground. Cleveland coach Eric Mangini expects the league to review Suh's rough treatment of Delhomme in Saturday's exhibition game in Detroit. Mangini said at his news conference Monday that he will ask the league to investigate the play, but he assumed it would do so anyway.

Browns' Sorensen Leaves On Backboard

Oct 1, 2014 3:57 PM

Browns safety Nick Sorensen was sprinting down the field after a kickoff when he was blocked simultaneously by Caleb Campbell and Andre Fluellen of the Lions on Saturday night. The hit sent him to his back and led to him being carted off the field and taken to a hospital. "It's horrible whenever you see somebody laying down on the field," Browns coach Eric Mangini said. "It's a reminder of how tough this game is, how things can change so dramatically." Cleveland said after the game that tests were negative.

Hardesty Returns To Practice

Jun 27, 2014 2:07 PM

Montario Hardesty, Cleveland's promising rookie runningback, practiced Thursday for the first time since injuring his right knee during a pre-training camp workout. Hardesty sustained a bone bruise to his knee during a 1-on-1 tackling drill before Cleveland's veterans reported to camp. Hardesty said he hurt his leg while making a cut. Browns coach Eric Mangini said Hardesty, who has had a history of knee problems, will be limited in practice as the team prepares for Saturday's third preseason game in Detroit. Mangini said Hardesty is questionable against the Lions "with the arrow pointed down."

Browns Won't Release Colt McCoy

Jun 28, 2014 2:08 AM

Colt McCoy will make the Browns' final roster unless something unforeseen happens, a league source said. McCoy, who was drafted in the third round out of Texas when Browns President Mike Holmgren stepped in and made the decision to do so, is a developmental project who was never expected to play this season. The real issue at quarterback is whether or not Eric Mangini decides to keep Brett Ratliff and McCoy. "We have kept four in the past," said Mangini. "Quarterbacks are really valuable. Someone is always looking for one at some point. If you have an abundance of them, usually you can get real value for them if you are willing to move on from them. I've kept four and I've been on teams that have kept two."

Delhomme: Playoff Loss Hampered Last Season

Aug 4, 2014 7:01 PM

Browns quarterback Jake Delhomme has attributed his struggles with the Panthers last season to the playoff defeat the team suffered at the hands of the Cardinals in January 2009. "Awful, last year was awful," Delhomme said. "There's no other way to put it. I was awful. There's no sweeping it under the rug. I didn't play well, I played awful. But I put pressure on myself. When we lost in the playoff game [to the Cardinals in January 2009] and I didn't play well at all, my whole focus and goal was to get back and play well. "Then, in the first game of the season, one of my first few passes gets tipped, tipped and picked and it's like, 'Don't make another mistake, don't make another mistake' and I played that way the whole season. That's just something you can't do. You never, ever can play that way and I've never done that. I just put so much on myself. 'I gotta play good, I gotta play good' and when you're so tight like that, it's just worse." Delhomme, who landed in Cleveland this offseason, threw 18 interceptions in just 11 games for Carolina in 2009.
