Sep 30, 2014 11:27 PM

Bears rookie quarterback and fifth-round draft pick Nate Enderle arrived in Chicago on Sunday and has begun working out with the team, according to sources. Enderle, who impressed Bears offensive coordinator Mike Martz in a private pre-draft workout, passed for 8,181 yards and 62 touchdowns as a four-year starter for the University of Idaho. He is expected to open training camp as the Bears' No. 3 quarterback behind incumbent starter Jay Cutler and Caleb Hanie.

Olsen: Cutler Moving Well, Offense Primed

Oct 31, 2014 4:24 PM

After watching Jay Cutler during informal workouts, Bears tight end Greg Olsen said the quarterback appears "completely normal." Cutler suffered a knee injury in the NFC Championship game. "I am not a doctor [but] yeah, he looks fine," Olsen said Monday on "The Waddle & Silvy Show" on ESPN 1000. "He looks completely normal to all of us. I think he feels fine so I don't think there is any lingering effects from anything." Cutler was diagnosed with a second-degree sprain of his medial collateral ligament after the Bears' loss to the Packers in January. Olsen said the workouts have helped the offensive players with their timing as they prepare for Year 2 in offensive coordinator Mike Martz's system. "It's a little unfortunate because in normal years we would have gotten a lot of work between all the OTAs, all the minicamps, just the regular days out on the field," Olsen said. "We would have gotten a lot accomplished and learned a lot from last season, but we didn't so that's the hand we were dealt, and we have to play a little catchup as far as with the coaches once training camp opens. But as players there is a lot we can do to prepare for the season."

McNabb Ranks Urlacher As 'Top Three' LB

Nov 8, 2014 8:38 PM

Dhani Jones started a firestorm when he knocked Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher earlier this week. Jones excluded Urlacher on his list of the NFL's top ten linebackers, while ranking himself seventh for the NFL Network. Urlacher didn't seem too bothered by the snub, but he did fire back at Jones. Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb was asked to share his perspective during an interview Friday on the "Waddle & Silvy Show" on ESPN 1000 in Chicago. "Brian is a very effective linebacker and a great leader," McNabb said. "A guy who gets to the ball. He's in the right places at the right time. When you're a veteran linebacker, those are your qualities. "It's not about your speed anymore. It's not about guys running sideline to sideline. It's about being in the right gap at the right time, it's about getting the guys in the right position to be successful. That's what Brian is. Brian is your guy that you have confidence that he's going to make the big play on third down when you need it." McNabb then ranked Urlacher. "Brian, to me, is one of the top three linebackers in the game," McNabb said. "I believe once he's done -- he has five or six years left in him, maybe more -- I believe he'll end up being a Hall of Famer."

Urlacher Takes Shot At Dhani Jones

May 24, 2014 8:51 PM

Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher took a shot at Cincinnati's Dhani Jones after the defender failed to include him on a list of the NFL's ten best linebackers. Jones, who ranked himself seventh, asked the question: "When was the last time Urlacher got off a block?" They were both drafted in 2000. Urlacher went ninth, while Jones lasted until the 177th pick. "I think we were drafted in the same class, and I haven't heard anything about him since then," Urlacher said. "I saw him on a TV show with a bow tie on, though. So I know him better for the way he dresses than what he does on the football field. "Look, guys are going to talk. I've definitely had a lot worse things said about me publicly from guys, so I can live with it."

Ditka Has Cameo In Entourage Finale

Aug 23, 2014 2:39 AM

Mike Ditka has a part in the final episode of "Entourage," which enters its eighth and final season on HBO in July. "This just came up spur of the moment, and actually you know, it was a good experience," Ditka said on "The Waddle & Silvy Show" on ESPN 1000. "I didn't realize how big a deal it was, I'll be honest with you. I'm kinda naïve about those things, and I understand it is a pretty big deal, and yes, I think it is very nice and Coach Alvarez is on it with me so both of us are there." Jeremy Piven, who is one of the show's stars and plays agent Ari Gold, tweeted a picture of he and Ditka. Piven is from Illinois.

Urlacher Expects Bears To Have Normal Camp

Jul 12, 2014 8:09 AM

Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher expects head coach Lovie Smith to conduct a normal training camp once the NFL lockout ends and football-related activities are allowed to resume. "We have a great camp schedule and there is no reason for us to change it, I don't think," Urlacher said Thursday on "The Waddle and Silvy Show" on ESPN 1000. "We're a veteran team, and I believe we'll [report] in shape. Guys will be ready to go, knowing what to do. "So I don't think much is going to change for us. We'll come in the first couple of days, ease into it, then get going with the pads every day after that. We do start earlier than everybody else because of the Hall of Fame Game, but I don't see much changing for us training camp wise." The Bears are scheduled to report to training camp at Olivet Nazarene University on Friday, July 22, with the first practice tentatively set for the following day on July 23.

NFL Looking Into Risque Ad Involving Bears

Oct 19, 2014 3:32 PM

The NFL is investigating an advertisement for an adult film event in Miami that included the images of Bears safety Major Wright and other players. Wright, Chargers draftee Corey Liuget and other players appear in uniform in an advertisement for last month's Exxxotica Expo 2011. "It's an intellectual property issue since the players were featured in their team jerseys," Brian McCarthy, NFL vice president of corporate communications, said. "The NFL office works on behalf of the clubs to protect their intellectual property rights in matters such as this. Our legal team is reviewing the ad. In general, companies not affiliated with the NFL or its clubs may not depict a player in his uniform."

Sources: Fantuz Impressing Bears

Sep 12, 2014 9:23 PM

With so much attention given to which veteran wide receiver the Bears should target once the lockout ends and free agency begins, one new receiver already under contract is working to establish a rapport with his new teammates. Former CFL standout Andy Fantuz, who signed a reserve/futures contract with the Bears on Feb. 4, 2011, participated last week in the Bears unofficial offseason workouts led by QB Jay Cutler, according to an NFL source.
